Christmas Tradition Happy Moment...

Last night we started our annual tradition of reading Christmas books each night as a family.  The cool thing about this year though, is that it's not just me reading them!  Brody got to choose the book last night, and we ended up singing it, "The 12 Days of Christmas".  Tonight Lukey read his favorite "Are You Grumpy Santa?"  It's so fun to have them read their own and I love how everyone gathers together, no whining, no questions asked....It makes my heart so happy!

Cali and Me

 Yesterday was Cali's Special Disneyland Day!  We had such a great day together.  I just want to share a few things that made it so awesome.  First, on the way to Disneyland, she shared with me an experience she had at school.  She was assigned to do an essay on a special place.  She chose to write about the Temple.  She was a little upset, because her teacher had read part of it to the class and had laughed at what she wrote.  And the class laughed too.  She had described in her essay that work is done in the Temple for people who have died and can't do their own work, because they are dead.  Apparently, this was comical to the teacher and class.  But she handled it so well. We talked about how sometimes people laugh about things they don't understand.  Then she put a positive spin on it and said she was glad she was able to make everyone happy by making them laugh!  

OK...onto Disneyland...

It was crowded!  But it did not stop us from having a wonderful time!  Going with Cali, means being able to go on rides I don't normally get to go on, like California Screamin' and Soarin'.  Woo Hoo!

Here's Cali in the "bowels" of Pirates of the Caribbean.  The ride stopped and we had to be evacuated from our boat.  It was quite the adventure.  We got to exit through all these tunnels and stairs and ended up at the exit for Indiana Jones.  It was kind of cool!

 The highlight of her day was FINALLY getting a princess makeover at the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique.  She chose the "Diva" hairdo and the ladies made her feel so special.  Here she is with her pretty cape and the "fish bowl" face guard:

 We had so much fun at the boutique.  She was the only one in there, so she got a lot of special attention.

 Her hair withstood many of the rides we rode (yay hairspray!):

 And at the end of our day, we waited in the cold to watch the Christmas Parade.

Cali is truly a special girl!  I'm so glad I get to have special days like this with her.

Once we had our perfect tree, it was time to "Christmas" up the house.  But we were so tired, we just put lights on the tree.

 On Sunday, I had the kids test out their new Christmas pj's and surprised them with a brand new Star Wars Advent Calendar!  For each day in December, there is a special mini lego set to put together.

So Cool!

 Then Sunday night it was showtime!  Time for all the Christmas stuff to come out!  The kids got to decorate their tree in the office...and of course Luke got to top it off with his angel:

 Nana & Papa came over and helped decorate the family tree....and of course, our Angel got to put on the angel:

It feels like Christmas in the Wilson Home!   I'm so happy and my house is too!  Christmastime is my favorite time of year!

O Christmas Tree

"This is IT!"

 I've always wanted to cut down my own tree.  So, a few weeks ago, I googled tree farms in San Diego and found Family Christmas Tree Farm in El Cajon.  On Saturday, we loaded up the van and headed down.  It wasn't exactly the mountains, but there were lots of trees to run through and choose from.  After about 20 minutes, the kids found the perfect tree.
Then Daddy helped each kid ( & Me ) have their turn cutting down and trimming it:

It wasn't quite the same as the Griswald's from 'Christmas Vacation' (thank goodness!), but it was so much fun.  This was a fantastic family outing and we'll probably be doing this again for years to come!

We got a free Baby Tree with our ($30) purchase.  Brody got to pick it out and we named it "Treebeard".  Isn't he cute?

Once the tree was loaded onto our car, we headed over to the pre-cut part of the lot and had ourselves a hay ride around the farm.  The kids even sang Christmas carols.  I loved this day and really hope we get to do this again.
