Day 3 - Last Day - Jeremy Day!

Jeremy got 2 comp passes for Saturday from some guy at work. So, we headed down, just the 2 of us!!! We've never done that before! It was so much fun because I got to do things that I don't get to do when I take the kids! We took our time going through the Exhibit Hall. I plan out a route when I take the kids, so that we only see the things they want (or I want them) to see. We also participated in some raffles and talked to fun people!

While hangin' out in the Star Wars Pavillion, I ran into Dave Filoni. He was in "disguise". Usually he wears this brown hat everywhere. He was impressed that I recognized him. He is the Director/Creator of the Clone Wars Series. He also is the artist/creator of the shirt I am wearing! I got to talk to him for a little while and he was totally cool!

We were walking by the Gentle Giant booth and Billy Dee was there doing signings! I said-"Hi Lando!" He looked up and smiled at me! I was so excited! It's Lando Baby!

While walking by the WB booth, the cast of "Chuck" was doing signings. I yelled "CHUCK!"-he looked up and flashed this cute smile and gave me the thumbs up! Once again, I was soooooo excited!

For lunch, we actually left the convention center and headed to the Gaslamp Qtr. We stopped along the way to listen to an awesome 2 man group on the corner. Jer got a CD. We ate at Dick's Last Resort. Whoa! Crazy Place. It made Comic Con look tame. Not sure if I'll ever go back there!

After lunch, we headed back to get in line to meet Rick Riordan. He is the author of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series of books and also the new Kane Chronicles. He signed a couple of books for us and let us take a pic with him!

We had such a fun day! I loved hanging out with my hubby and the Con!
COMIC-CON: WHERE TRISH CAN BE A TRISH!

After leaving Comic-Con, we headed to the airport to pick up Cali & Nana. They spent the week with Becky in Ohio. We missed her so much! I'll blog about that later, when I get all the pics!

Day 2 - Star Wars Day!

Every Friday at Comic Con is Star Wars Day! I took so many pictures that I won't post them all here! I was lucky enough to spend my day with 2 of my favorite guys from the movies-Han Solo (Lukey) & Anakin Skywalker (Gav).

Our first stop was actually at the BOOM! booth, where they were having Disney Comic Book Artists personalize comic covers. Luke got his very own Toy Story comic and the artist sketched a Buzz on the cover for him, signed it and personalized it too! Luke was so stoked!

We were able to attend a Cartoon Network panel for Adventure Time! It was really fun because we got to see an episode not seen yet by anyone and then got to enjoy a Q & A with the cast. I couldn't take pictures because cameras were not allowed!

Next Stop-The Star Wars Pavillion! We got so many autographs. Gav got to meet the voice actors for Yoda and Capt Rex (and all the clones) from the Clone Wars series. We also met THE stunt man from Return of the Jedi. He was a stunt double for half the cast!
The highlight of the day was the "Her Universe" booth. Ashley Eckstein does the voice for Ahsoka on the Clone Wars. She has developed a clothing line for female Star Wars fans. I was so excited because she knew who I was! It was so cool! I had ordered one of her shirts a few weeks ago and sent her a pic of me in it and she recognized me! She gave me a hug and thanked me for supporting her line. I felt so special! I happened to be wearing the same shirt as her-so we took this cute picture together (I'm holding her lightsaber):

We actually cut our day short, because Luke was just so tired. But we did get in 5 hours and had a great day!

SDCC 2010 - Day 1:

This year, our first day was Thursday. Usually I get the 4 day passes, but they sold out so fast, I didn't get a chance to! So I bought passes for Thursday and Friday. I didn't want to go alone, so I brought Gav with me! I just have to start by saying, after 7 years of attending SDCC, I have the whole thing wired! And I am so grateful. Comic Con can be a very stressful thing for alot of people. For us, it's a GOOD TIME!

We started our day with "The One Ring.net" panel, to hear the latest news of "The Hobbit" movie. It wasn't as fun as years past, because, well, nothing is happening with the movie. But, we did get down to the Weta booth to hang with the panelists and Gavin dressed as a Hobbit for the day! Then we headed to the Star Wars Pavillion to hang out with our friends. Gavin was excited to meet Catherine Taber. She does the voice for Padme in the Clone Wars series and also does the voice for Gav's favorite character in the Knights of the Old Republic game, Mission Vao.

My kids have become the best line-waiters. You have to wait in alot of long lines at the Con. Here we are waiting for the Star Wars Force Unleashed II Live Demo Panel:

The game demo was EPIC (that's my new word of the week)! And Gav was one of the lucky few who got to meet the head writer/creator of the game, Haden Blackman.

I got to finish the day with my own time at a panel titled-Geek Girls Exist. Yes We Do! I took Gav to the Child Care room, so that I could enjoy and hour with my fellow female nerds. We spent 11 hours at SDCC! That's our longest day ever!

Family Beach Day!

Yesterday was our 1st Family Beach day of the Summer! The sun is back and it is HOT! We are so HAPPY! FYI-Luke is THE Airbender-Oh Yeah!

THE WAVE

We took the free passes to The Wave on Friday. I'm still not sure if I like that place or not. It was very crowded and I was a little stressed out about not knowing where my kids were at all times! The big water playground for the kiddies is not close to where Cali and Gavin were on the slides. But, by the end of the day, I felt more comfortable with everything, but had a nice little headache from being stressed out! But, the most important thing was, that the kids had fun! Luke and Brody loved the playground and Luke loved wearing his life jacket and swimming in the shallow end. Cali loved the slide that shoots you out into the lazy river. And Gav loves the Flow Rider! That's the one wear you ride a boogie board on a constant wave. Here's some pix from the day:



Next time, I'd like to go with friends so that there's more of us to keep an eye on each other!
TIP: There are alot of kids/teenagers that just get dropped off for the day. Be prepared for bad language and bad attitudes. I had to get my rented inner tube back from a very rotten teenage girl after she tried to steal it! GRRRRRRR...

Graduation Day...

Swim Lessons are DONE! The kids each got a report card w/ these pictures on them. They all did great and were rewarded w/ passes to the Wave.

Summer Fun with Friends...

My friend Shauna, left yesterday for her first 1/2 Marathon in Utah. To help her out, I watched her kiddies all day. We had a blast! We love the Woolf Kids!

Summer is FINALLY Here...

This year we are experiencing an "El Nino" weather pattern. So far the summer has been gray and even cold. But not anymore! Back to the Beach! Yay!

Getting educated...

This year, I have taken the opportunity to educate myself more on the importance of our Constitution. I had never FULLY read the Declaration of Independence or The Constitution, until this year. I think I remember studying parts of both while in school, but never REALLY reading through them myself and feeling of their power and truth. To help with things, I am reading the most amazing book-"The 5000 Year Leap". Why everyone in the country has not or is not reading this book is a tragedy. It breaks down the Constitution and the principles that make our country so special in an easy and, again, powerful way. I feel our country is at a cross-roads. I feel if we could get back to the basics our Founding Fathers laid out for us in the first place, we could solve a lot of problems and be back on the right path of being the Special Place we're supposed to be. I highly recommend that ALL people, should REALLY read these special documents and check out the book!

D23's "50 and Fabulous"...

Yesterday, Gavin and I got to go up to Burbank, to the Walt Disney Studios, and see the movie, "Swiss Family Robinson". It was part of D23's "50 and Fabulous" series, where they are showing movies that came out 50 years ago. This time, we got to go through the main gate and treated like VIP's as we meandered our way through the lot to the theater.

Gavin is not a big fan of taking lots of pictures. He was so anxious to get inside and see the movie! He loved it! I forgot what a great movie it was. It was really neat to have this outing together. Can't wait for the next one!

Another Yucky Day...Another Movie Review...

Very Cute. Very Funny. Very Touching. A fun movie for the whole family! It was really enjoyable!

Rainy Day Schedule...

Yes, it is July, and Yes, it is supposed to be sunny and warm, BUT, it's not! We were invited over to Cali's friend's house to swim today, but it isn't exactly swim weather. So, we had her friend come over to our house and play instead. We broke out the craft book and built a volcano. Not exactly the summer time activity we had planned-but it was still cool and fun!

Free Museum Tuesday...

Every Tuesday, Balboa Park has free admission to a few of their museums for San Diego Residents. This past Tuesday it was The Reuben H Fleet, Model Railroad, and Natural History Museums. So, since the weather has been yucky, we headed on down to check them out. There were LOTS of people with the same idea, so it was quite crowded. But we just took our time and still had fun! I think the kids LOVED the fountain the best. It's a good thing too, because I waited in a long line for us to get our tickets for the RHF Science Ctr.

We decided to check out the Railroad Museum first. Here they are enjoying the view of the huge "Toy Train Room".

When we finally were able to get into the RHF, the kids went crazy checking out all the exhibits. This was one of their favorites. The "Shadow" exhibit.

And of course, a day at Balboa Park isn't complete, without rolling down the grass hills on the way back to the car!

We didn't make it to the Natural History Museum, because it was almost closing time. But this was a very fun summer time activity! I'm glad we went!

MOVIE REVIEW...

An OK movie. Just OK. As a mom, I found it difficult to watch. I got over emotional and couldn't take watching that cute litte guy getting his butt kicked. Not good for kids under 8. Luke and Brody were totally bored. Cali thought it was OK and Gavin really liked it.

Swim 2010

OK-we are going to try this AGAIN! This is Luke's 3rd attempt at swim lessons. And his exact words when we got in the car after lessons-"...that wasn't half bad!" He actually enjoyed himself and had fun! WOO HOO! BUT-not so happy for Brody. He didn't even make it into the pool. He told me when he's 7, he will take lessons, like Lukey. Oh Well! I signed Cali and Gavin up for advanced classes to just work on their skills and get better. I tried to have 45 minutes of "Me" time. I guess I'll just have to wait until Brody is 7!
