Back to Football

Go Jags!
Brody is on another Jaguar team.  And with a different coach!  With some different boys too.  He wasn't too sure if he was going to like it at first.  But his coach and the boys are starting to mesh.  They are a good team!
At his first game of the season though, he injured the knee.  He was so worried that he wouldn't be able to run as fast or play as good anymore.  Luckily, ice & rest did the trick!
He's back baby & I love watching him play so much!

Labor Day Getaway

We ran away for the 3 day weekend.  I wanted to do something a little different.  We knew we wanted beach time, but I also wanted to be secluded and maybe go on a nice hike or something.  So, I looked at Airbnb's that fit this criteria.  And we didn't want to go too far away.  We found the perfect place in Topanga Canyon.  A cute little "hippie" shack, tucked away in the canyon, but only a few minutes to the beach.  We arrived late Friday night and our host had set out a little welcome spread for us...
I wanted to sleep.  So that's what we did.  On Saturday, we slept in and ate a delicious breakfast at the Marmalade Cafe.  I had the best veggie fittata and the most delicious fresh squeezed oj.  Jeremy loved what he got too!  When our tummies were full, we went looking for a beach that would suit us.  There are so many dotted up the Malibu coastline.  We settled on "Staircase".  It was nice and uncrowded.  It was a "dog beach".  But they kept to themselves, for the most part.
I relaxed and read all day.  Literally, all day!  It was magical!
Jer got in some good surf time and an even better sunburn (wish I had a pic!).

Other than the dog peeing on Jeremy's Polar Pop, you were good to us Staircase!
For our early dinner, we hit up Neptune's Net.  The reviews said it had amazing burgers and fish & chips.  The food was meh...but the view was perfect!

I had looked up hikes in the area and we tried hard to get in a sunset on at Tuna Canyon.  We almost missed the sunset and it was a little hazy, but we still enjoyed the beautiful view...

Day 1 was a success!  We cuddled up in our comfy bed at the shack and got ourselves a nice night of sleeping.
On Sunday, we slept in again!  So great!  Then we headed up the canyon to check out the Topanga Table.  It was so delish!  I wish I could have taken home a gallon of this pomegranate oj-

After our yummy breakfast, we went to the top of the canyon lookout...Beautiful San Fernando Valley...

After a (long) drive down Mulholland Drive we ended up here-
We actually found a parking spot!  Kind of a miracle on a holiday weekend.  Then we walked along the lagoon to the beach.  It was pretty to look at, but smelled so bad.

We ended up at Malibu Pier Beach.  Apparently there's no swimming allowed.  Just surfing.  But I had to pee, so...

After chilling on the beach for a little while, we walked through the crowded beach to the pier-
We had ourselves some sweet treats as we walked along the pier...
This beach did little for us.  Way too crowded.  So we decided to go check out the famous Paradise Cove.  I'm still trying to figure out why it is famous.  It cost $50 to park there!  We got free parking up on the street and hiked down.  The beach itself was nothing special.  And there were no waves.  I was not impressed.  But we did hang out there for a bit, because we did take the time to hike down and it was kind of a long walk back up.  We did find a rad place to eat near Point Dume, though.  Ollie's Duck and Dive.  We ate delicious sushi and steak.  Plus, the people were so nice and it didn't cost too much.  Loved it!  I kind of wanted to go on another hike, but it was too late.  So, we just went back to the shack and watched some Netflix on Jer's phone.
Monday - Labor Day
We had to say goodbye to our perfect little "hippie shack".  I seriously miss this place!  It was perfect for us!

We returned to the Marmalade Cafe for another awesome breakfast and then started the drive home.  We drove all along the coast and decided to stop in Redondo Beach and soak up a little more of the sun...

Then we did something I have always wanted to do!  We drove through Palos Verdes!  This place is spectacular!  The views around every curve were just beautiful!

And there was a lighthouse!  I didn't even know!  Point Vicente Lighthouse.  All of my favorite things happened this weekend.  Hubby, beach, nature, food and a lighthouse!

I loved everything about this weekend, but especially the quality time Jeremy and I got together.  We are so lucky to have each other.  I love us!

The Last Monday at the Beach...2018...

Monday August 13th-
The best and worst day ever.
The last Monday Beach Day/Night of the Summer.
So bummed.
But it was perfect.  Perfect temp, both in and out of the water.  Crowds weren't too bad.  And we had all of our favorite people with us...

We stayed until will past dark.  I did not want to leave.  I love this tradition.  Looking forward to next year!  Miss you already Mondays at the Beach!
