I neglected to mention in my last post that Jeremy left on Friday the 15th to hike Mt. Whitney with his dad and brothers.
I really wasn't ready for him to leave me. It had only been a week since the birth of BK. But he was so excited to do this and it truly is one of those once in a lifetime opportunities. So I put on my brave face and said goodbye. And hoped and prayed they would make it back alive!
Last Monday, I was feeling great! I slept all night without waking up for the first time in months! I went to the store and got supplies and loaded up the family for a fun day at the beach.
All of the McEwans came, Becky and the kids came and the Bronson/Miller clan was there too! It was an absolutely beautiful day and it ended with a yummy bonfire and this gorgeous sunset! What a great way to start a fun (& very tiring) week!
Tuesday, we joined Gammy & the McEwan cousins for a swim day at Auntie Julie's!
I couldn't go in the water, so I visited with Granny and Julie in the shade while the kids enjoyed the water...
We raced home Tuesday afternoon so that we could get dinner from Cass and the kids got some playtime in with the G Man!
Love him so much!
Tuesday night was also Girls Night at the Ranch!
I dropped Cali off for a night full of Girl Fun with her cousins and her aunties...
On Wednesday, I brought the boys to the Ranch for a swim party with Becky and all of her friends...
Wednesday night, I got to go out with the Bronson/Miller crew to see-
It was so cute and so fun to see it with these cuties...
Thursday was Day 1 of Comic Con Intl!!!!
We got all packed and loaded and headed down to the Convention Center by 7:30 AM. It was a chaotic morning trying to find parking and get the child badges, before our first panel started. But we did it! We had to sit through a VFX panel for Alice Through the Looking Glass. But then we got to enjoy the Nickelodeon 25th Anniversary panel.
After the panel, Brody's ear was hurting and he wanted to go home. Cali was really tired and volunteered to go home and watch Brody. So, I left Gav and Luke at the Con and took Cali and Brody home. Then I drove all the way back (Ugh!). But the nice parking attendant let me come back in for free. That was nice :-). I walked in the hot and humid weather to the Hyatt to join Gavin and Luke for the Her Universe Fashion Show!
It was such a fun show! So many cool creations! And look at Ashley's dress! It's made completely of Legos! My favorite dress won - The Marauders Map Dress! And then off to home we went, very, very tired!
My phone is broken and I was gone most of the day. But Luke & Gav had a blast by themselves and got to meet the original black ranger. Here is the best pic of the day-
Day 2 of the Con-
Friday!
So, this was our Exhibit Hall Day. Brody's ear was still bothering him, but he wanted to go, so off we went! Again, my phone is broken, so I used my camera. Here's some pics I took off the camera of Day 2-
Bob's Burgers
We hit up all of our favorite booths, but were kind of bummed that the swag was very limited and all of the fun stuff was "on a break" or had really long lines.
We still managed to have a good time and get some cute photo ops!
And then, I left again. The plan was for me to join Gav & Luke in the Hall H line for an overnighter! So, I took Cali and Brody home again. They got to go to Souplantation for dinner with Nana & Becky and then had a slumber party with the cousins at the Ranch.
I returned to the Con and found FREE PARKING! Then made the long trek back to the Hall H line in Embarcadero Park. This was our spot in the line...
Not Bad!
I also got a text from Jer! My first one all week! They made it to the top!
He's alive! And he did it!
Meanwhile, back at Comic-Con...
We sat in our spot for 12 hours! 12 Hours! The line was experiencing some serious issues with line cutters and we were so worried we weren't going to get wristbands. We started to get a little worried when we hadn't received them by midnight. At 1:00 AM, the blinky lights came with security and we GOT OUR WRISTBANDS!!!! (phew!)
Alot of people left once they got their wristbands. But we were prepared to stay the night. We got pushed way up in the line to a nice grassy hill and got settled in for a (mostly sleepless) night.
I did not sleep at all, due to the snoring of a bear (or large man). But the boys got about 4-5 hours of sleep, before security came around and got us up and moving around 6AM. By 7:00, they condensed the line and we were in the tents by 8:00! We got to sit and relax in the shade for the next 2 hours with our line buddies.
10 AM, they started letting in the chutes and by 10:45, WE WERE IN!
We were able to enjoy the WB/DC panel, a weird Star Trek 50th Anniversary panel, a 30th Anniversary Aliens panel and ended the day with the Marvel panel. We got wands from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and hats from Marvel Studios. I took so many awesome pics and videos and then my camera broke and erased them all! I cried.
We had such a fun day and my car was still where I left it when we got off the shuttle. I was so happy, because, FREE PARKING!
As we were riding the shuttle, I got a text from Jer saying he was on his way home. HOME! He was home safe and sound. I could not wait to see him. The traffic was bad and it took me forever to get home. But when I did, I hugged him so tight! I missed him so much!
Oh! And did I mention I just had a baby 2 weeks ago???
Sunday, we wanted to skip church and rest. BUT, we got asked to help with the Primary sharing time and we don't know how to say No.
Jeremy and I had a great time though, helping out...
Plus, we looked dang cute!
After church, we came home and ate and I took a little nap. Then, we loaded up the car and drove to Murrieta to get Gina. Then it was off to my mom's for Sunday dinner with the family. Sarah, Isaac and Gavin were here!!!
We took our traditional walk on the beach and got this nice cousin pic with Papa...
It was such a pretty night, ending with an even more beautiful sunset...
And we were able to get in more cousin time on Monday at the beach with our favorites!
What a whirlwind of a week. My body and mind are exhausted! But I'm so happy and am now going to work on that resting thing. I think...
