365 Days

It has been 365 days of "No School".
Now, in Vista we have been lucky to have had a little bit more school than others in the state.  But this is ridiculous.  With the vaccines and people already exposed to and recovered from the virus, it is time to have kids back in school.  Almost every other state in the country has had their kids in school since Sept.  Come on CA!  Enough is Enough!

1st Day of School, Again

 Wednesday March 10th
Here we go again.
These 2 are back to school, 1 day a week.  They get to go on Wednesdays.  But because of the rain, they only got a 1/2 day.  smh
Any way, they both loved being back at school.

#RecallGavinNewsom

Our Governor Sucks!  He has failed our state in so many ways.  Californians are tired of it and now we have enough signatures to recall his butt!
Let's hope we actually do and get someone who actually cares about Californians.

Covid Update - March 9, 2021

Belated Birthday Dinner

With everything going on, we hadn't been able to find the time to go out with our friends to celebrate Jer's birthday.  We finally made it happen last weekend (3/6).  We went to an ok Burger joint in Carlsbad, followed by Handel's.  Then we hung out and played games at the Bronsons.
We have the best friends!

Kenzee scare

We got back from Utah on Monday March 1st.  On Tuesday, I was back to work and noticed that Kenzee was really fussy, really warm and had a bad rash that seemed to be spreading.  So, I let Meish know and she came and took her to the Dr.  It was determined that she had developed a staph infection on her neck.  She was put on antibiotics and sent home.  Meish kept her home the next 2 days.  But Kenzee was getting worse.  So, on Thursday, she took her to the ER at Children's and they admitted her  to the hospital.  She had a high fever and the rash was spreading further around her body.  Tests were run and on Saturday morning, it was determined that she had herpes.
The fever had dropped and they pumped her full of iv antibiotics for the next 3 days.
She was discharged on Tuesday the 9th!  Such a scary thing for the family, but so glad she got the care she needed and is going to be just fine!

Back to School, Again

 March 2nd

So here it is.  The new school schedule for my High Schoolers.  1 day a week until we are in the Orange tier.  Better than nothing.  They are actually excited.

SDCC cancelled again

Knew it was coming, but it still makes me sad.  Luke was heartbroken, because he was so looking forward to going before leaving for his mission.  But, better safe than sorry, right?
We still have our passes and will get to use them in 2022?  I won't hold my breath.

Back to Utah

So, 2 weeks exactly, from the day we were in Utah for Presidents Day, we were back on the road to Utah for Grandpa's funeral.
We left on Thursday Feb 25th and drove to Vegas for the night.  It was just Jeremy and I this time.  We were up early and in Provo by 2.  We met Cali and Colby at the office and Jeremy got to see where Cali works and ride on Colby's skate ramp.

We also got some free wallets!
We stayed at Colby and Kenzie's.  So after dropping our stuff at their house, we went over to Cali's house and watched Wandavisiion. Then we went to dinner and tried out Three Sweet Tacos for dessert.  It was so yummy!

On Saturday, we picked up Cali, Chloe and Mark from Sarah's, and drove to the church building in Millcreek for the Funeral.  Grandpa's step kids did a really great job putting together a wonderful celebration of life.

They had alot of his photographs on display and in boxes for anyone to take.  The girls picked this for their house-
And I got a nice framed pic of the Oceanside Pier!

After the service, we went to the cemetery for the dedication of the grave-
Because he served in the Navy, he got full military honors-

The Pallbearers-
Grandpa's kids-

Goodbye Grandpa!  We Love You!
And one more selfie, since I was the one who taught him how to take one!

And I had to get a pic with my beautiful cousins before we left.  I love them so much!
That night we got to have a fun pizza party with our Bauer kids at Colby's!

It was so much fun just hanging out, playing with the kids and enjoying our time together.  I love them so much!
On Sunday, we got up and grabbed Cali and headed to Sarah and Isaac's, so that we could meet Baby Jane!

And Jeremy got to play with Eli!

After our visit with the Rodebush's, we drove up to Grandma's one last time.  She's moving up to Logan the first weekend in March.  It has been so good to see her so much this year!  We didn't stay too long.  We had to get Cali back for a ward acitivity and we grabbed my dad and drove to St. George for the night.  We stayed at the Francis' and got to visit with Pam and Duane.  They are so great and always take such good care of us.  We woke up Monday and drove home.
That's 4 trips for me to Utah in 2021.  I'm done for a while.
But so, so glad we could see Cali again, be there to send my grandpa off and to see Grandma again.  We are so blessed!

Sports are Back!!

Local youth sports and high school athletics sued the state and got the right to play back!  Woohoo!  So, we got the email and Brody will start flag football again in just a couple of weeks!  And I got to credit what I paid last year to this season!  I am so excited!  But more important, Brody is so happy!

Back to school one day a week

Ugh!  Reading these emails are so frustrating.  So, basically, the boys have 3 days a week of distance learning, one day a week of asynchronous (check in virtually) learning and one day of in person.  This is so lame!  But they are just glad to go back, even if it is just one day.

Covid/School Update - February 19th

So, until we drop into the "orange" tier, my boys get to go to school one day a week.  smh

Goodbye Grandpa Doug

On February 14th, we went and visited Grandpa Doug.  On February 18th, he passed away peacefully in his sleep.
I didn't have the closest relationship with him.  I was always a little mad and bothered by him.  I hardly ever visited him when I was in Utah.  But my aunt and grandma were adamant that I see him on Valentines Day.  Now I am so glad I listened and went.
He's home with his wife and family who have passed on.  I am happy and I know he is too.

Presidents Day Weekend

 Feb 12-15
We decided to take a road trip to Utah for the 4 Day Weekend!  We left Thursday night (2/11) and drove to Vegas.  We stayed in a hotel and then drove to Provo on Friday.  We got there in the afternoon and went to Cali's house!  She got to show her brothers where she lives.  They were happy to be reunited.
That night, we went to a rad burger place, inside an axe throwing place, with Colby, Kenz & the girls!  We brought Victoria with us too!  It was so much fun and the food was so good.  Colby had an infected root canal, so he left early, because he didn't feel good.  But we still had so much fun with everyone!
We took Cali back to her apartment and we all watched Wandavision.  Then the boys and I headed to our weird hotel for the night.
On Saturday, we weren't sure what to do.  It was snowing and Cali's foot was still hurt, so sledding was out of the question.  So, we stopped by Isaac and Sarah's for a visit, while Cali was at a RS Meeting.

Cali had a RS Meeting, so we just hung out at her apartment that afternoon.  Then, we headed up the canyon for some dinner in Midway.

After dinner, we went back to the Ice Castles!  The pictures loaded in reverse order...

It was a blast!  We stayed way longer this time and saw and did so much more!  The boys loved it!
Sunday was Valentines Day!
We spent the day showering loved ones!
We started with a visit to Grandma.  She is doing so good!  We brought her some flowers and stayed for a couple of hours.  Aunt Barbara told us that we should go see Grandpa Doug.  He wasn't doing too good.  I hesitated and said we didn't have time.  But then Grandma said we should go.  So, we told her goodbye and went to see Grandpa.
But first, we said goodby to the house on Elgin Drive.  Grandma sold her house to Ryan.  She is moving to Logan.  She is moving to a house that can accomadate her better and is cloer to family that can help her.  I will miss visiting her here...

When we got to Grandpa's facility, they wouldn't let us in.  Visits were only allowed by appt and on Mon-Thurs.  We told the lady we were from CA and that we were leaving the next day.  So they let us go to the courtyard and talk to him from his window.
He was so happy to see us!  I am so glad we went.
We celebrated Valentines Day with Jordan and Kerrisa at their new home with a waffle bar dinner!
We love them so much!
Then we took Cali home and had to tell her goodbye.  So glad we all got to come up and spend this time with her and so many loved ones.
We drove straight home on Monday.  It was a rough drive, but the weekend was so worth it!
