Potted Potter

Last Wednesday, I drove these crazy kids and Tracy downtown for "Potted Potter".  It was a hilarious 2 man parody of all 7 books in 70 minutes.

 The Balboa theater is such a neat place and here's Cali writing herself into Hufflepuff house, prior to the show...

 It was so much fun!  I laughed so hard!  And it was so fun to be able to see it with our cousins.  We got Starbucks after the show and watched The Order of Phoenix in the car on the way down and back.  I highly recommend this show to anyone who loves Harry Potter!  It's a good time!

 Another Soccer Season has ended.  This year was WAY better than last year.  We switched to a new league (SMYS) and it was run so much better and we were blessed with a great team of girls.  Jer had a great time coaching and the girls finished 4th in their age bracket.  We celebrated Saturday, Nov 2nd after their last game at Massachusetts Mike's.

The Worldwide "The Hobbit - Desolation of Smaug" Fan Event

In Line...

 To hype up the upcoming release of "The Hobbit - The Desolation of Smaug", Warner Bros. put together a worldwide simulcast event for the fans.  It was pretty much a Hall H panel from Comic-Con, but on a larger scale.  They picked 4 theaters in New Zealand, London, New York and Los Angeles to host the event.  They placed actors from the movies and the 4 locations and the fans entered contests to win tickets to the event.  I put my name in and WON!!!!  Last Monday, Gavin and I headed up to The Grove in Los Angeles around 11 AM for the 2:00 PM event.  It would be happening at all locations live, at the same time.  The line wasn't even long when we got there.  We checked in, signed confidentiality forms and got our free shirts, then sat on the floor of the theater for 2+ hours.  I went to the Farmers Market and got us a delicious lunch and then we watched "The Hobbit" EE on my ipad while we waited.

 We loved our shirts and the exhibits and costumed fans-

 Around 1:30, they let us in the theater.  They gave us free popcorn and drinks, as well as free "The Hobbit" movie guides.  We got great seats smack dab in the middle of the theater with a great view of the screen and "Tauriel" (Evangeline Lily).

 At 2:00 PM, we got started!  Here's the screen with all the different people at all the different locations.  They did a live Q & A with Anderson Cooper moderating.  Peter Jackson was with Jed Brophy (Nori) in NZ; Orlando Bloom (Legolas) and Richard Armitage (Thorin) were in NY; Luke Evans (Bard), Lee Pace (Thranduil) and Andy Serkis (Gollum) were in London.  We got to see some extended trailers, deleted scenes from the EE edition, a new video blog of behind the scenes and 20 MINUTES OF FOOTAGE FROM DOS!!!!!  It was AMAZING!

 As we left the theater, they gave us more free stuff!  We got posters, trading cards and Denny's coupons.

 I'm so excited that we got to go!  And so glad I got to take my Nerd Buddy with me!

It was only 3:45 when we left the Grove, soooooo.....guess what's on the way home from LA????

DISNEYLAND!

Yep!  We stopped at the Happiest Place on Earth!  We got there about 5:30 and the park closed

 at 8.  So, we parked at Downtown Disney for 3 hours of free parking.  We walked REALLY fast through Downtown Disney and into the park.  We were starving, so we grabbed some yummy skewers from the Jungle place and then rode some rides!

 We started with Pirates, rode single rider on Indiana Jones, walked on to Star Tours and Space Mountain and finished off with the Matterhorn.

 Just before the park closed, we grabbed a cookie and some caramel apple cider from the Jolly Holiday Cafe.

 Whew!  What a day!  This was an extra special day with my Bug.  Loved it!

Halloween 2013

 Halloween snuck up on me this year.  Usually we are so ready by September.  This year, it was all rushed and no one knew what they wanted to be.  I ended up getting everyone's costumes bought or made the week and night before.  Our Halloween celebration started the week before at the Annual Fall Festival at Monte Vista.  I got volunteered to work the face painting booth again and Cali got to help out too!  She was the cutest Tardis ever and I threw together this witch outfit at the last minute.

 The Fall Festival was a success and Jeremy had to finish up soccer games and get the boys ready by himself and then brought them done for the fun!

After the Festival, I raced Cali and Mia to a party and Gavin to his HS Dance.  Here's his last minute costume-

 Then, Thursday was the big day!  It was crazy of course...  I was up til midnight sewing Gav's costume and then bam!  6:00 AM it was time to get up and push on through-

I had to work and the kids had school and we had just about an hour to get all ready.  But we did it!  Here we all are-

 We all loaded up in the mini van and headed to San Marcos to drop Gav off at a party.  This was the first Halloween that he spent away from us.  Boo Ho....but he's kind of growing up!  The rest of us stopped off at the Ward Trunk r Treat to drop off food and then we headed to Oside to trick r treat in Gammy's neighborhood.

 The kids love handing out candy to all the trick r treaters, then we headed out and had so much fun doing our own treating down the streets.  Gammy had yummy food for us to eat and we loved spending Halloween with them!  Here's my cute Halloween parents-

Cali's last Primary Program

 

The last Sunday of October was my favorite Sacrament Meeting of the year.  I love the annual Primary Program.  And this year was extra special.  First, I actually got to sit in the congregation and watch it.  I have never been able to do that before.  I have always been involved in one way or another in all of my children's programs.  That was kind of cool.  Second, Luke sang a duet and killed it!  He has a great singing voice and he did awesome on his memorized part.  He takes the program very seriously and made sure he was in full suit attire.  Third, Brody had one of the longest parts in the program and handled like a BOSS!  He lost his place during the scripture, but found his place and kept on going.  And finally, Cali.  She had 10 parts!  She introduced each theme and then had one of her own.  She had a solo at the end and I totally lost it.  She turns 12 next month.  12!!!!!  I can't believe it.
