 Memorial Day at the Ranch!

Nana and Papa were in Ohio watching Becky's kids.  We needed to go and check on Jasmine and the house.  So, we spent the whole day there and swam and BBQ'd.  The Rathfons dropped Mia and Riley off and we got to play with them too.

A Perfect Memorial Day!  So Grateful for all those who risk and have given their lives to protect our country.  It is because of them that we get to have days like this.

May 24th

It's our 18th Wedding Anniversary!  And how do we celebrate the kickoff to our Anniversary Weekend???  With Sarah's POPS concert, of course!  For the 4th year in a row, we went to the POPS Dinner concert and got to see Sarah perform one last time with her high school band.  She's amazing!

HTH Career Day

Here's Gav (Chuck from the Nerd Herd), all dressed up and ready for his Career Shadow Day at Gunnar Optiks.  Our good friend Kathy was supposed to be his mentor for the day.  The fires messed up her schedule, so he followed intern Zack around instead.  Zack's dad is the Chairman of the Board and a student at BYU.  Gav had a great day and even got to do some work.  He made company calls to Best Buy and even got a free pair of new glasses.  I'm so glad he got this opportunity.

The Last Fifth Grade Field Trip for Luke

 I got to go with Lukey's class to the Safari Park (Wild Animal Park).  I had a great group of kids and we had a great day!  For Reals!  I usually hate this place.  But it was a nice cool day and we had a fun time checking out the things they wanted to see.

HTe and the Museum Of Making Music

 I'm done with work the rest of the school year.  So I get to go on end of the year field trips!  Yay!  2 weeks ago, I got to go with Brody's class to the Museum of Making Music.  This place is awesome!  They started with a drum demonstration and learned about beats and rhythm.

 Next they looked inside a piano to learn about keys, chords and vibration.

 Then we took the tour through America's music history...

 And finally, we got to try out some instruments.  The key-tar and banjo were his favorite.

Greek Day & A Little bit of the Renaissance

These 2 have been planning and working on their projects to trade at the 6th Grade Greek Night.  They were so excited to make swords and spears to trade.  So, the day before the big night, their teacher informs them that weapons are not allowed.  WHA?????  They inform me as I drive them home from school.  We consulted Google on my phone and came up with some really great last minute ideas.  I ran to Michael's and got some little clay pots and paint markers-

 And I had all these little boxes.  They made them into Pandora's boxes.  They decorated them and put the legend of the boxes inside.

 Tuesday arrived and Cali got all Greeked Up!  Look at her pretty hair...

 

 Their items were so popular, that by the time I showed up, only 15 minutes into the night, they were all gone!  

 Over in the 7th grade quad, they were putting on a Renaissance Faire.  And I got to see this cute little lady-

Beauty and the Beast

So, after Gav got his braces off, I thought we would celebrate with a trip to the beach.  School was still closed because of the fires.  But Gav didn't want to go to the beach.  But everyone else did!  So, the rest of us headed down to the Harbor and met up with the Rathfon family.  Here's what Pendleton looked like when we got there...

 Jeremy came down and surfed with these two.  We were there for 6 hours!  We even headed into the village and had Fish n Chips for dinner.  It was sad to be enjoying this wonderful day while others were being evacuated.  But thankfully, everyone and everything turned out ok.
