Happy Birthday Valentines Getaway

The kids had a 4 Day Weekend to celebrate Presidents' Day.  Valentines Day fell on Sunday, and Jeremy wanted to runaway with me for the weekend.  So, on Friday, I set out some Valentines prizes for the kiddos to enjoy while we were away...
 My Loves...
Jeremy got in a surf session Friday morning, and then we made the long drive to Ventura.  We were so beat when we got to the hotel, we just settled in for the night.
We woke up Saturday to this...
We took a nice walk along Ventura Beach to Seaward Village and had a yummy breakfast at Duke's.
That afternoon, Jeremy wanted to take me to one of his favorite surf spots, the Rivermouth.  The waves were huge and the wind was blowing like crazy.  It wasn't the best surfing conditions.  So, we just laid on the beach and took naps and read.  It was magical.  We were right across the street from the Harbor, so we headed over after a few hours to look through the shops and grabbed a snack.
We still had a little daylight left, so we went to check another favorite spot in Oxnard, the Strand.  The tall ships were coming in when we got there...

And then I got to enjoy the sunset while Jeremy enjoyed some waves...

We went back to the hotel and got dressed up.  We went into downtown Ventura for dinner.
We ended up eating at the Busy Bee Cafe, a cute 50's Diner.  We had yummy dinners, played songs on the juke box and shared a milk shake.
 Sunday, Valentines Day!
It was another beautiful day, so we headed into Santa Barbara to enjoy it.  Except that, everyone else had the same idea.  The traffic was horrible.  But we did manage to find a parking spot close by and took a nice walk along the pier and State Street.

Then we decided to go on an adventure!  We hopped back into the car to find the World Famous Jalama Beach Burger.  On the way, we stopped off at Refugio State Beach to check the surf-
The drive to Jalama Beach was a gorgeous one!

We went over the hills, through the woods, pass the farms and down windy roads to this-
 Jalama Beach!
This place is not easy to get to, but is so worth the drive.

And the food was amazing!  Yes, the burger was all it was hyped up to be.  The secret sauce was delish!  And my simple grilled cheese sandwich was perfection.  And the view could not be beat!
It was a happy, happy Valentines Day!
Monday morning....
We had to say goodbye to our beloved Ventura...

We did not want to leave.  Especially when the weather was almost 90 degrees!  In February!  But we did make a good choice to take the 1 instead of the 101 home.  The drive from Oxnard to Santa Monica was virtually traffic-free and beautiful!
We got home in the afternoon and hugged our kiddos!  It was a perfect weekend!  So glad Jeremy and I got to have some much needed time together, just the 2 of us.  We are so blessed!

43

 Happy Birthday Jeremy!
Jer has been is Sacramento all week for a work thing.  He made it home around 6:30.  The kids and I got the house clean and made a yummy BBQ Pork sandwich dinner.  Then the family came over for dessert to celebrate!

He's kind of special and we love him so much!

Super Bowl Sunday

This year it was the Carolina Panthers vs. the Denver Broncos.  And this year, we cancelled cable.  So, Nana and Papa were gracious enough to let us have a Super Bowl party at the Ranch.  And I made lots of food...ok...lots of dips!
Brody loves the Panthers, so we put on Panther blue and cheered them on (plus we hate the Broncos...)-

Unfortunately, the Panthers played horribly and lost.    Plus, the game, commercials and half time show were all a big disappointment.  Brody and Mr. Pickle were pretty bummed...
But, we still had fun hanging with our family and eating yummy food.  Let's hope next year's game is better!

Mormon Battallion Day in Old Town

On Saturday, Gavin and his friends wanted to see "Lazer Team".  Some Rooster Teeth movie that was only showing in San Diego.  So, I agreed to take them.  While they were at the movie, these 2 and I hit up the Mormon Battalion Day festivities in Old Town.  It was a beautiful day!  They started at the biscuit booth and made some delicious biscuits.
And we ran into the Bronson girls!  So we hung out with them for an hour or two.  And we went for a covered wagon ride...

We got some delicious root beer floats at the root beer store and then made some dolls...

And (kind of) got to make some bricks...
We spent about 2 hours there and had so much fun.  We made it back to the boys in perfect time.  It was a great day!
