Coronavirus Quarantine
Day 1:
Saturday, March 14, 2020
Yesterday, the POTUS declared a National Emergency due to COVID 19 (Coronavirus). Here in San Diego County, Schools decided to close for the rest of the month, to hopefully lessen the spread of the virus.
Luckily, I made sure to stock up on some things prior to the announcement. All stores have been emptied the last 48 hours.
So, today, our first day of quarantine, we decided as a family to just chill. Cali & I both have colds & it's a rainy day.
After making a nice breakfast for everyone, I spent the morning cancelling flights. Jeremy and Brody had a Washington DC trip planned for next week. All public places have been closed. Jeremy and I planned a trip to Brazil for the Rio Temple Open House next month, but that also is on hold. Such a bummer! Hopefully we will be able to get back all the $$ we spent.
The rest of the day, we just watched movies and relaxed. Keeping an eye on updates, as well. This thing changes daily. Jeremy mowed the lawn and is now out checking on Ward members. It's a little after 5PM, and I plan on making a big pot of spaghetti. We are going to go for a little walk and get the mail to get some fresh air first. We are going to have a family meeting tonight to set up a schedule for the next few weeks.
After dinner, the kids watched the silliest movie, based on the book, "The Great Horned Spoon". But I can't remember the name of the movie. It was weird. But the kids loved it!
I pray this will calm down soon. That people who are sick will get the care they need and that the spread will slow/stop.
Day 2:. Sunday 3/15
Cali and I are still feeling under the weather. No fevers though, so that's good! I got up and made a nice breakfast. We all just relaxed and listened to church music. Church has been cancelled until further notice. Jeremy was at a meeting with the Bishop for 3 hours! When he got home, we all got our church clothes on and had church at home.
Brody led us in an opening hymn #222. Then Jeremy gave the opening prayer. My boys blessed and passed the sacrament. They took it so seriously. It made me tear up. Gavin & Luke blessed, while Brody passed. I've saved years worth of children's medicine cups. No clue why. But they worked great as sacrament cups.
Gavin had picked up Kristin, so we had the whole family here! We went through our Come Follow Me lesson for the week. Jacob 1-4. We ended with "I Believe in Christ" and I said the Closing prayer. President Trump declared a Day of Prayer for today. So I tried to make it a good one!
Then I made everyone grilled cheese sandwiches & tomato soup. We all cuddled up on the couch and watched the first 2 Hobbit movies. I made a yummy dinner and we all just relaxed all day.
But the best part of the day was that Cali finally got the email from BYU Hawaii with her acceptance! We are all so happy & excited for her!
Tomorrow is the first official day of no school for who knows how long. I'll have Hailee too. Hoping to get some cleaning and organizing done. So grateful we have food & tp so that I don't have to go anywhere! So far, we are doing great!
Day 3: Monday 3/16
No School...forever?
Things are getting weirder and weirder. All restaurants were told to close. They can only offer pick up or delivery. Movie Theaters and Entertainment have closed too. And retail stores! The cases are rising, but no one is dying. I am having a hard time with why there are so many restrictions. I really hope it is worth it. And there’s rumors that school is done for the year!
But we had a productive day! Hailee was here and I had to watch her, but she was good because there were so many people here to play with. The kids were awesome and got their rooms so clean and organized! I was blown away!
I also got a bunch done. Cleaned my desk, did a ton of laundry and re-did the family picture wall.
We got a nice walk in with everyone and Jeremy picked up Round Table Pizza for dinner.
I think my cold is getting better. Cali too. I was up way too late hanging out and talking to Jer about things. But it was a good day. Despite everything going on, we are truly blessed.
Day 4: Tuesday 3/17
Happy St. Patricks Day!
I actually got up and braved the grocery store. It wasn’t too bad and they were only out of a couple of the things I wanted. So I hit up Target after and was able to get everything I needed. Hailee was here again and she’s battling her own little virus of some kind. She’s kind of like a roller coaster. She has spurts of energy and then gets totally lethargic and has been running a low fever.
But Good News! The sun came out today and we drove to the beach. It’s been raining everyday and is supposed to again all week, so we headed to our happy place to soak it up. We ran into Kaci and the girls while we were there.
I did not want to leave, but Hailee wasn’t feeling awesome and Brody wanted to go home. So, we headed home, but not before we stopped at McD’s for a Shamrock Shake! Hailee took a nap and then we just hung out and rested all afternoon. Brody went to Sam’s. Cali had to work. Gav was at work and then Kristin’s and Luke was stuck at home with me! Jeremy came home from work and I made a huge pot of mac n cheese and also made an awesome irish stew.
We feasted and watched a Dropkick Murphys concert. Then Chloe and Carter came over for a bit. BYU shut down and sent all the students home. They have to do all of their classes online! Such a bummer for them, but great for us! Now I’m drinking some tea and honey listening to my boys having a blast together playing games.
The Governor (Newsom) gave an update today. Still no new deaths, but new cases. He also mentioned that schools probably won’t open for the rest of this school year. Everyone is freaking out! I really hope that doesn’t happen. We are going to pray and pray hard that that does not happen. I want Cali and Brody to have their end of year celebrations. I know that’s petty, but I just want it for them so bad!
I’m already feeling claustrophobic and antsy. I miss our regular schedule. Praying that we will all make it through this and quickly!
Day 5: Wednesday 3/18
I slept great! But woke up feeling awful. Pretty sure I have a sinus infection. Got up and waited for Hailee to get here, but then Meish texted and said she was taking her to the doctor. She ended up having a bad cold and ear infection, so Meish kept her home, I was actually relieved. I needed to rest myself. So, I decided to break out the Friends lego set that Tash got me for Christmas and spent my day building it.
Carter came over and played video games with the boys all morning. Cali’s friend Hannah also came over and I went and got them all some In n Out for lunch. It was so weird to see the dining room empty. Restaurants are banned from serving food in house. So they are left to drive up or delivery. It is so crazy. More and more cases are being confirmed, but the thing is, no more are dying. So, yes, the virus is spreading, but people are getting better. Not sure how long this isolation thing really needs to last.
I got to take a nap! That was awesome. Around 4, the rain stopped and the sun came out for a bit. So, we took our daily walk to the stop sign and got the mail. I watched the news for the first time and decided to turn it off. I didn’t make dinner because we had so many left overs. It was just a nice, chill night and I finished my lego set around 9!
The kids seem to be handling everything ok. Its rough with so much uncertainty. Gavin and Jeremy are still working. I’m glad they have good jobs and something to do. I just keep praying hard this all is over soon.
Day 6: Thursday 3/19
I called in a sick day to try and kick this stupid cold. Plus, I didn’t want Hailee over if she still had a fever. I think it was a good call. I wanted to sleep in, but was up at my normal time. 7:30 AM. I stayed in my pj’s all day! After doing a couple of housekeeping things in the morning, Luke, Brody and I watched The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies. We watched the extended cut, so it was like over 3 hours. Cali was gone all morning, doing Seminary, tutoring Bailey and going to work. When she got home, I went for a walk outside to get my daily dose of fresh air. Unfortunately, I ended up battling a migraine most of the day. Late in the afternoon, I went over to Karen Rohner’s house to pick up some little gift baskets she had made for the yw. I went and delivered half of them, to the older girls. Couldn’t go in or get close to anyone, so basically just had to leave them on the doorsteps or hand them to them from far away. When I got home, I made a big pot of Baked Potato Soup. While I was making dinner, the Governor, Gavin Newsom, declared a “Safe at Home”, basically shelter in place for the entire state of California. 40 Million people have now been advised to stay home and only leave to go to the store. Essential jobs remain open. Grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, banks, hospitals, etc. Gavin texted and told us that his boss shut down the store. So he’s out of work for who knows how long. Jeremy still has a job. A good one. An essential one. We both looked at each other with gratitude. So blessed to be in the position we are in. Everyone was feeling a little down and blue this evening. So we decided to have a fun movie night. We watched “The Three Amigos”! I had so many things and scenarios running through my mind and my head hurt so bad, that I had a hard time sleeping. Again, just praying hard that this all ends soon.
Day 7: Friday 3/20
I had a sleepless night, but was up at 7:30 to get ready for Hailee. We have a text thread with our game night friends, and Adam Jones sent us a text that freaked me out, saying that the whole country was going to shut down for 2 weeks. Even though I didn’t really believe it, it scared me and as soon as Hailee got here, I ran to Target and bought $200 worth of food, almost all of it frozen. Unbeknownst to me, Jeremy had also got a little freaked out and went to the store to do the same. So now we are totally good with food and our freezer is filled! The kids were just hanging out, not doing a whole lot and Gavin isn’t working. He wanted us out of the house so that he could play a new video game. I wanted out of the house too, so Cali, Brody, Hailee and I went to Walnut Grove Park and walked the horse trail.
It wasn’t raining, but it was still cloudy and cold. I picked us up some chick fil a after and then we headed home. The kids had fun playing with Hailee and then we all cuddled up on the couch around 3:30 and watched the new episode of the Clone Wars. Hailee fell asleep. I was able to get some stuff done, Luke fixed the strings on the guitar and started playing. I loved it! Around 5, Cali and I went to Islands and picked up some takeout. We went to the Compound and picked up Brooklynn so that we could still have her special birthday date. We just came back to our house, ate our food, shopped on line for crystals, painted our nails and then watched the new Pixar movie “Onward”. We finished the night with birthday brownies. It was really fun and I think we were able to still make her feel special.
After we took her home, Brian put together a Google Hangout Game Night with the GNS. We played a lousy game of Drawful.
It was still fun and I liked being able to hang out with our friends, even if it was just virtually. I stayed up late finishing my first book of the quarantine, “The Day the World Came to Town”. It was a good day. This has felt like the longest week of my life. But we made it.
Day 8: Saturday 3/21
Once again, I slept horribly. But I was able to sleep in a little. I actually hopped on the elliptical and worked out for 40 minutes. Took a nice shower, got some chores done and then read for most of the morning. Jeremy went to check on his parents and the kids did chores too. Cali went to Hannah’s house. When Jeremy and Cali got home, we loaded the whole fam into the car and headed to the beach. It was packed! Everyone had the same idea. And if people keep heading down there, they will probably close the beaches too. But we took a nice walk, played ‘three flies up’ and watched a beautiful sunset.
We grabbed Chick fil a for dinner and then came home and watched “Treasure Planet”. The numbers are rising of infected. But the deaths are still pretty low. We are trying to do our best at staying home and away from others. I really hope the numbers slow and we will see an end to this soon. Fingers crossed!
Day 9: Sunday 3/22
Ugh! Another terrible night! Woke up with a headache again. But, I took some medicine early and was able to kick it. I made a nice pancake and bacon breakfast. Then we all got ready for church. Luke wasn’t feeling good, so Gavin and Brody prepared the Sacrament. We had another great home lesson. I’m kind of loving home church. After our meeting, we turned on ESPN. They were doing a whole day of The OCHO!
A bunch of obscure sports championships. Stuff like Cherry pit spitting, arm wrestling, dodgeball, death diving and all sorts of crazy fun things! It just played all day while everyone hung out, played games and put together puzzles.
We did go for a walk late in the afternoon. On our walk, we saw a lady walking 2 llamas! Brody was so excited!
After the walk, we came home and BBQ’d some burgers and hot dogs. We tried having a family meeting after dinner to discuss how we were going to continue to handle this quarantine. Some of the kids don’t like that I’m still watching Hailee. But I can’t tell Mishelle that I won’t. It’s really hard to know what the right thing to do is. New developments happen every day. The President authorized the National Guard to help California, New York and Washington with the response. There was supposed to be a big relief bill passed tonight in the Senate. But the democrats blocked it. So, we will see what happens next. I hate it when politics gets in the way of just being good humans and helping others. Right now, we are all hanging out on the couch watching a cheesy martial arts movie - “Bulletproof Monk”. My sinuses are still killing me and now my ear hurts. Hopefully I won’t have to see a doctor about it and it will just go away soon. I’m too scared to go anywhere near a dr. office. Thousands of missionaries are being sent home from other countries. It is a really uncertain time. But we keep praying. And I am so grateful for the position we are in. We are safe and healthy and have everything we need. Hoping to feel better soon in order to be able to do more to help others at this time.
Day 10: Monday 3/23
I’m writing a few days late, so I’m trying to remember what we did. Hailee came over. Gavin was not happy or comfortable with anyone coming over. He distanced himself from Hailee all day. The rest of us just played and hung out. We made sure to go for a walk in the afternoon. Just down to the school and back. I also found out that Riley, Christian, Daniel and Harrison, are all being sent home to be quarantined and reassigned for their missions. Every non-native missionary is being sent to their home countries to either be released or reassigned. It is such a bittersweet thing. Also, in an effort to continue to curb the spread of the virus, all parks and beaches have been closed to the public. Well, at least, the parking lots and trails. If you live or park close enough, you can still go for walks, as long as you stay 6ft apart from others. Even surfers are being kicked out of the water and threatened with tickets or arrest. It’s crazy! That night, we attempted another game night and played scattergories. It was totally fun! At least we can still hang out with our friends from a distance.
Day 11: Tuesday 3/24
Another day, another quarantine. Man, this is starting to get really old. Hailee came over and Gavin was once again, not happy. I feel bad, but I just don’t know what to do. I need to keep watching Hailee. I got to have my dr. appt. Via an evisit. It was awesome. Didn’t have to go in, it lasted about 10 minutes max and I got my prescription refilled! Woohoo! We played, hung out, and took a walk. Cali went to work. After Hailee left for the day, Gavin and I got into a horrible fight. I was destroyed. Once Jeremy got home, I was able to make a yummy fish dinner that everyone loved, but I just felt awful. I slept awful and got a migraine. I really want this to all be over soon.
Day 12: Wednesday 3/25
I woke up feeling awful physically ,mentally and emotionally. I was on the verge of tears all morning. Hailee came over and she was really clingy. I think she could sense that I wasn’t ok. Gavin and I actually had a nice talk and we were able to calmly both get our feelings out and apologize for what happened the night before. He let me know that he wanted to leave. To get away. I didn’t like it, but I totally get it. I felt defeated and just want him to be happy. He packed up and left for Kristin’s for a couple of days. Hopefully things will be better when he comes back. The rest of us were able to have a good rest of the day. We did yoga, a hip hop class, a short walk, some disney movies and after Hailee left, I made another yummy dinner and we watched the Simpsons movie. I got started on Birthday plans for Brody today. His birthday is a week from today. I hope we can make it special for him.
Day 13: Thursday 3/26
I’m putting the day/date because I am really starting to lose track of what day it is! Today was a great day. I slept good. I woke up feeling good. Hailee came and we had a fun morning. We were all feeling like we needed a change of scenery. So, around 11:30, we all loaded up in the car and headed to Nothing Bundt Cakes in Carlsbad. We picked up a couple of bundtlet towers to deliver to family. Then, we noticed that the flowers were blooming at the Flower Fields.
So we drove by and checked them out. Next stop was lunch from In N Out and McDonald’s. While everyone munched on their lunch, we drove down the coast to Leucadia. I had the windows down and it felt so good to feel the ocean air and breathe it in!
We turned around at Leucadia Blvd and headed to our first treat stop, the Carlsbad McEwans. On the way, we did a little drive by wave and we had a sign that said “We Love You” that we waved at Jeremy from outside his office. We dropped the bundlet tower at Gavin & Shawna’s and got to see Joel and Camille.
We stayed in the car and sent them “air hugs” and waved our “We Love You” sign, before driving away. Then we headed home. We made our last stop at Tracy’s and was able to drop off their cakes and see Chloe from a distance.
We were gone for 2 hours and it was so much fun! We were all so happy to get out of the house and do something for someone else. After that, we hung out for a bit and then took our daily walk to the school and back. We totally wore Hailee out and she passed out as soon as we got back. I made another yummy dinner and then we played a couple games of Drawful after dinner. I also checked in with friends and the Bauers today. Everyone is doing good, for the most part. Tash found out that Daniel will probably be home this weekend. Shawna told me that Christian should be home on Saturday and that my brother, Gavin will probably be sent off somewhere next week, for who knows how long! I heard back from Trini, Candace and Kenzie. They’re all surviving and doing their best with all of their little ones. Becky texted today and let us know that Milo’s baptism is still happening on Sunday. Her Bishop is going to broadcast to us via Zoom. Milo asked Luke to give the talk on Baptism. He was so honored to be asked! I can’t wait! Things just keep getting weirder and weirder, but we are sure blessed and really enjoying our time at home together. It does get boring, but I think we are handling everything ok. We did find out today, that Brody’s school will not resume until May 11th. He will start “distance learning” on April 13th. So, that should be interesting. No word on when for sure Cali and Luke will be heading back, but I’m sure they will be pushing that back, as well.. Gavin is still at Kristin’s. He is having fun and that makes me happy. So far, so good!
Day 14: Friday 3/27
Today was another good day! Hailee was here and Cali and I started our morning with a fun dance workout on FB Live. Her boss Tori taught the class. Then we “Marco Polo”’d with Trini! We went back and forth for a bit and got each other caught up on life. We got word today, that school is closed “until further notice”. Online learning for Cali and Luke will start on April 6th. Brody starts on the 13th. Luke was pretty bummed when I told him. He really loves going to school. I’m worried how I am going to keep them engaged and motivated. But I also worry about the social aspect of not going to school. I’ll be thinking and praying of how I can make this a good and positive experience for them. I never thought I’d be a homeschool mom. Kind of glad they are older though. They are good at following directions and getting things done. Cali completed an online scavenger hunt for YW this week and I promised a treat to those who completed it. She was the only one who did it, so I let her pick what we did for lunch yesterday. She picked Panera. The boys were stoked and so was Hailee. After lunch, we played for a bit, Cali did her Seminary class and then we went for a walk. We came back and snuggled up on the couch and watched the new episode of Clone Wars. Hailee fell asleep and I read my book. Gavin is still at Kristin’s. I think he’s doing ok. He doesn’t really check in. Not sure when he is coming home. Jeremy has been working 12 hour days. He’s so slammed at work right now. Congress passed an insane relief bill today. $2 Trillion! Not sure it is the best thing for our country, but it will give immediate relief to families and businesses. So, Jeremy is working all day trying to help all of his clients. I didn’t want to cook. So Jeremy picked up Albertaco’s on the way home. We just hung out, talked, read and watched Kong Skull Island. Jeremy, Cali and Brody made a Peppertree run and that was our Friday night. We’ve made it 2 weeks!
Day 15: Saturday 3/28
I slept in. Which, I’m not sure if it was a good thing. I woke up feeling physically ok, but I was in a bad mood all day. Then, I realized, “nature” had hit. So, that was cool. Jeremy went surfing and was so happy. He and Cali spent the rest of the day building a chair for her desk.
Luke and Brody did their regular Saturday chores, then played video games most of the day. I cleaned out the pantry.
And had hoped to be able to get so much more done, but I just was feeling lousy. So, I sat on the couch and read most of the day. Kathy had made frozen cookie dough for the YW, so Cali and I took a little break in the late afternoon and delivered them to the older girls. That was my outing for the day. No one could decide on what to do for dinner, so I made chicken nuggets and mac n cheese for the kids. I had some steak, rice and veggies. So I decided to do a stir fry and it was delicious. I finished my book after dinner, but was still in a bad mood and I was so tired. But I’m blaming it on “nature”. I guess I was pretty awful to be around. Before Cali and Brody headed to bed, we watched a video from President Russell M Nelson, inviting all to fast and pray on Sunday for the physical, emotional and economical effects of COVID-19. After the video, Jeremy started our fast with a nice family prayer. I should have gone to bed after that. I stayed up late watching a movie with Luke, Assassin’s Creed. It was weird. I went to bed feeling so bad for my grumpy day. I made sure to say a really nice prayer before I went to bed.
Day 16: Sunday 3/29
A pretty wonderful day! I did wake up with an awful migraine and the fasting didn’t help. But I was able to make it through our Church at Home and we were able to have a really neat lesson. I immediately took medicine and went to bed and slept for a few hours. When I woke up, I felt much better and it was also a good time to break our fast. That afternoon, we hopped onto Cali’s laptop, and were able to witness and participate in Milo’s baptism. We had planned on being there in person, but the quarantine stopped that from happening. But Becky’s Bishop was able to “Zoom” everyone in. Luke gave the talk on Baptism and did such a great job. Clover gave the Opening Prayer, Ady gave the talk on The Holy Ghost, Becky & Cordy were able to be witnesses and Ollie gave the Closing Prayer. It was really neat. It was also fun to see the whole family “Zooming” in. We all hung out and talked for a little bit after.
Then Luke and Brody had a Zoom chat with the YM. It was a beautiful day, so before I made dinner, Jer, Cali, Brody and I took a nice walk. I am limited on groceries and don’t want to go to the store unless absolutely necessary. So, I had some bratwurst & potatoes. I looked up a Bangers & Mash recipe. It looked yummy and easy, so I did it. Everyone ate it and liked it! I was shocked! My mom stopped by while we were eating and brought us some brownies. Then we broke out the old video camera and watched home movies. It was so much fun. We loved watching all of our little babies on our fun family adventures.
Then Jeremy made me watch the first episode of “Tiger King” with him before bed. Oh man. Crazy stuff. The whole country is going wild for this weird documentary about private zoo owners. I went to bed way too late. Hopefully it won’t affect me too bad on Monday!
Day 17: Monday 3/30
Well, I was right, I woke up feeling terrible. I can not stay up late for any reason. Hailee came and was really whiny all morning. So, that didn’t help. I’m really starting to hate not being able to do anything. So, for lunch, I went and got us Chili’s to go. That cheered us all up! After lunch, I felt better and played alot with Hailee. We got our walk in and then she took a nice nap. I’m pretty sure I dozed off for a bit too and that was nice. Ramos stopped by and brought us some pancakes! That cheered everyone up too! He was still here when Meish came to get Hailee. So she felt it was only appropriate that she announce that SHE IS PREGNANT! What a happy surprise! She’s due in early October. That put us all in a good mood. After they all left, Cali made us yummy delicious spaghetti tacos for dinner! They were so good!
Day 18: Tuesday 3/31
I woke up feeling great! Once Hailee got here, I left her with Cali and braved the grocery store and Target. Luckily, I was able to get everything I needed. There were no lines. It is actually so weird because everyone is wearing gloves and masks and keeping far away from each other. While I was at Target, I decided to get all of my Easter shopping done. I’m glad I got that out of the way. I also got the last few things I needed for Brody’s birthday. I’m so bummed he has to celebrate his birthday in quarantine. We were supposed to be on our way to Disneyland tonight. We were going to spend the night at a hotel and spend the whole day there tomorrow. Oh well. I just hope we can make it a special day for him. Hailee was so good today. I was able to get alot done today. We also made sure to get our daily walk in and she went down for a good nap. The kids are doing really well at keeping themselves entertained each day. The 3 of them are really having fun together and getting closer. I’m also proud of them for getting their school work and seminary work done. Luke had a hard time dealing with all the changes at first, but he’s finally made it over the “fear” hump. Gavin is still gone. Not sure when he plans on coming back. But he did send me a nice text telling me that he was sorry and that things will be different when he gets back. I made a yummy salmon dinner and then I went upstairs and had a Google Hangout with my SOTW committee. I love those ladies so much! We got all caught up on each others’ lives and had to go over the History we are putting together for the Stake.
Day 19: Wednesday 4/1

Someone posted this on Facebook and I thought it was full of important info that would be good to have as a little history.
We all woke up a little tired from the big birtday day! Hailee came and we just jumped into our regular "Groundhog Day" routine. Cali has been home so much, that she has become Hailee's favorite! They made cookies and played "Pirate Ship" in the Box of Awesomeness!
We watched "Onward" and got our walk in. We came home and she got her nap in while I journaled the last few days. The latest development in the fight against Covid-19, is that all the "essential" workers who deal with the public, have to wear masks and gloves. And the public has been asked to wear masks when they go out in public. I made a nice dinner when Jeremy got home. The kids watched a movie after dinner while I read. I went to bed at a decent hour. All in all, it was a good day.
Day 21: Friday 4/3
I woke up physically fine. But mentally, emotionally, I was not feeling great. Another day, exactly the same, at home, trying to figure out how to make it seem different. I just wasn't feeling it. After Hailee showed up, Cali and I did our dance class on FB Live. It is hard for us both to do it with Hailee here, because she wants our attention. So we take turns. Cali wasn't feeling great either and we both had headaches. But, I tried to shake off my "meh" attitude and took Hailee for a morning walk instead of an afternoon one. That helped alot. When we got back, we had fun just playing and hanging out. I didn't feel like cooking and Brody had a Chick fil a gift card, so he and Luke joined me and we went and got dinner. We came home and the kids watched a movie. Then, we got hit with a little earthquake!
I heard it before we felt it. It was just a small one, but definitely got our attention.
Jeremy was gone until way after dark, because they finally closed all of the beaches and it was his last chance to surf until who knows when.
I finished my 3rd book of the quarantine, The Huntress. It was good!
When Jeremy got home, we hopped onto my phone for a "house party" with our friends. We hung out and played games until 11 PM. I needed it! I had spent quite a bit of time during the day "marco polo"ing my friends. I'm really missing getting out and playing with them.
Day 22: Saturday 4/4
190th Annual General Conference Weekend
I was downstairs by 8:30 AM and my boys were already up and watching the pre-show. Jeremy had to work, so he went to the Ranch to check on his parents and work from there. I made bacon and eggs and then we sat down to watch the morning session.
It's the 200th Anniversary of the First Vision. So we were told this was going to be a good one! And it was! Because of COVID-19, no one was allowed to attend at the Conference Center. The choir did not sing, they showed previous performances for the songs instead. Here is what it looked like:

I made a delicious lunch of pizza rolls and chicken nuggets and we watched the World Report. Then we got ready for the afternoon session.
I actually fell asleep during one of the talks. But then I woke up for this one and it was my favorite:
Jeremy came home after the afternoon session. I did some chores. Then we got ready for the special evening session. It was pretty cool. They had to youth speakers and it focused on the Priesthood. The Prophet closed out the day, sharing the church's new logo and asking the world for another special fast on Good Friday.
We finished our night with some homemade mac n cheese for dinner and watched "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade". All in all it was a very nice day. Can't wait for more good stuff tomorrow!
Day 23: Sunday 4/5
My dumb alarm clock thought today was Daylight Savings. So when my alarm went off at 7:30, it was really 6:30. I was so tired. I slowly got up and into the shower. Jeremy came in and asked why I was up so early. He showed me his phone and what the real time was. I was so bummed. After my shower, I went and laid back down for another 30 minutes. But then I got up, dressed and I even did my hair and makeup. The Prophet declared that we would have a Solemn Assembly this morning, so we decided to wear our Sunday best. I came downstairs and made homemade waffles and some sausages.
Everyone made it down in time for Conference to start at 9:00 AM. It was such a great conference. At the close of the morning session, we all stood up for the "Hosanna" shout. I had got into my hope chest and retrieved the handkerchief that I received as a young women for the San Diego Temple Dedication.
Alot of talks were centered around the The Restoration, But Elder Holland's was my favorite in the morning and both Elder Uchtdorf and President Nelson were my favorites of the afternoon. 8 new temples were announced and the Prophet closed out the conference with an Apostolic prayer.
After conference, we hopped in the van and took a drive up to the Rohner's. They were having a "Welcome Home" parade for Tyler. He returned from his mission late last night. He only had 4 months left, so he is home for good. When we got home, I made a nice roast dinner. Everyone was happy! After dinner, the boys watched a movie about Extreme Bears. Cali and I went upstairs and had our own movie night-
It was really cute! It was still early when we were done, so we came down and played some games. I was so tired from getting up early, that I am headng to bed early. Its been 23 days! I am really getting quarantine fatigue. The government keeps saying that the next 2 weeks are critical. They said that 2 weeks ago. I really don't know how much longer we are going to be in this "limbo". Virtual school or "Distance learning" starts for Cali and Luke tomorrow. Brody starts next Monday. Everyone is so bummed that school is probably out for the year. It was a really good day, but I'm feeling down all of a sudden thinking about how tomorrow is just another day inside. It's supposed to rain all week. I feel like God is telling us to stay inside! And I felt like we were being instructed this weekend to get ready and prepared for what's coming. Gavin is still gone. He barely checks in. I'm not sure he is ever coming back. Riley made it home safe today! So now all of the missionaries who had to come home will have until the end of this month to decide if they will go back out. My brother Gavin hasn't been deployed yet. Hopefully he won't have to go, but it is likely he will. We keep praying and hoping this will all be over soon.
Day 24: Monday 4/6
Still in Quarantine.

But, new news, the kids started "Virtual School" today. And it's pretty ridiculous. But, Luke & Cali both seemed happier today after connecting with teachers and fellow students. Hailee was here and we did a bunny puppet craft while the kids were doing school. I tried to workout, but she was not having it. She did go down for an earlier nap today, so that was nice. I was really tired today and with the rain, I just sat on the couch and watched the Skywalker Legacy documentary. I made a nice dinner after Hailee left and Jeremy came home around 6:45. He's been working like crazy! We just sat on the couch and watched "Arrested Development" for way too long. I'm seriously suffering from Quarantine Fatigue. Hoping to feel better tomorrow.
Day 25: Tuesday 4/7
Just another day in Quarantine. And rain.
I ventured out to the gas station and store today. We are required to wear masks when out in public. So, I broke out the only mask we have, an N95 one from our emergency prep stuff. It was large and uncomfortable. But it did the job.
I was able to get food for Easter and shouldn't have to go back for a week or 2. Everyone is wearing masks and gloves and the grocery stores have put up plexi-glass in their lanes to block any germs. Stores are also capping the limit of people allowed in the stores at a time. So lines are forming outside and everyone must stand 6 ft apart. It's crazy! Luckily, I got to Stater Bros. at a good time and was in and out in about 15 minutes. Came home and had a regular day with the kids. Luke and Cali did their school and seminary. Hailee kept us all busy and bossing us around. She has become obsessed with Cali and just wants to snuggle with her all day!
Cali had to work today and her boss wanted her to wear a mask. So, I broke out the sewing machine and cut up some dish towels and made her a cute easter mask.
While Hailee was taking her nap, I made 2 more for my mom and dad. They aren't awesome, but they do the job.
I made a big pot of chicken soup for dinner and it was ready just as Jeremy and Cali got home. At 8, I did a Google Hangout with my SOTW ladies. It was so nice to check in and get all caught up with everyone. I love them so much. The kids and Jeremy played Mario Kart and there was alot of yelling going on. Now I am getting ready to head to bed. Jeremy and I are going rogue tomorrow and heading up the coast to Santa Cruz. He has a few boards to deliver and I want out of here, so we are taking a little road trip, staying the night up there, and heading back on Thursday. Praying everything goes well and we don't get caught and we stay safe and well. Wish us luck!
Day 26: Wednesday 4/8
WE ESCAPED!
Jeremy has had 3 surf boards ready for some guys in Santa Cruz. He's been trying to figure out a way to get them there. So, he decided to take them there himself and wanted to take me with him. It has been raining non-stop, so Ben isn't working. Jeremy asked if I could have Wed & Thurs off. So, around 7:30 AM, we stopped in Oceanside and picked up the boards from Garrett. Then it was off on our ADVENTURE!! We got to Capitola Beach in just under 6 hours. Traffic was amazing. It was so weird to see hardly any cars at all on any of the freeways. I drove alot, so that Jeremy could still work from the car. While we were driving, he was on a conference call that Bank of America is halting all loans. Jeremy was so bummed. They now have to focus everything on the new government protection loans. Also, I got a migraine half way there. We checked into our hotel in Capitola Beach around 3. As soon as we got in our room, I passed out for 2 hours. Jeremy was able to get some work done. When I woke up, we headed down to the beach. It was cold and cloudy, but not raining. And the beaches were open!
It was so nice to get out and breathe in the salt air. We took a nice walk and loved this little beach town.
We got dinner to go from a mexican food place and went back to the hotel to eat.
At 7, I had a Zoom meeting with the YW. Almost all of them were on there.
We all talked about how we are doing and our thoughts and feelings from conference. Cali headed it up and she did great. It was fun. Jeremy met his customers in the parking lot and got rid of the boards. The guy was so stoked that we drove the boards up, he gave us lots of $$ as a thank you! That paid for our trip and then some! We stayed up late finishing Tiger King.
Ugh. It just made me sick. Some people are just terrible. But now I won't have FOMO. Whatever. It was such a great day! So glad we decided to run away!
Day 27: Thursday 4/9
Jeremy was up at 5:30 to be on a conference call at 6. Poor guy. The bank had already changed it's mind on what he is supposed to be doing, that they had told him the day before. I was able to sleep in until 9. I woke up feeling so good! We were both so happy that we made this decision to get away! We needed it! We got ready and checked out around 10:30. We wanted to take the PCH home and take our time. Jeremy drove until we got to Monterey.
He got a text that he needed to be on a training call at 11:00. I took over the driving and everything was going great, until we lost all reception when we hit Big Sur. He was right in the middle of a training session that was mandatory and he needed to be able to learn what to do. We decided to park in a familiar spot, the Big Sur Deli-
He tried working for 1 hour and 30 minutes, but there still wasn't a good enough signal for him to do it quick enough. We decided to give up and head down the mountain and hopefully he could pick it back up at the bottom. Even though he was stressed, the drive was so peaceful and beautiful.
I continued to drive until we reached SLO. We realized I hadn't eaten anything all day. Jeremy had given up on his training and he had to pee. So, we stopped at a sandwich shop, Mr. Pickles, I got a sandwich and he got to pee. Yay! He took over the driving and we hopped on the 101 to get home quicker. It was still a beautiful drive all the way to Ventura. And once again, I got a headache. Dangit! Luckily, I had meds and took them as soon as I started to feel yucky. It started to rain once we entered LA county. I was not feeling awesome, but then came out of the fog once we were in Orange County. Traffic was still a dream, even in the rain. We got home at 9. The kids were home safe and happy and they had the house all nice and clean. They also enjoyed their 2 days of freedom from us! I love them so much and was so happy to be reunited with them. Happy to all be together again, but still missing Gav. It was a really good feeling to get away, stay safe and see the world is still beautiful and trucking along!
Day 28: Friday 4/10
Stormageddon!
It rained here, non stop for 20+ hours! Freeways, road ways are all flooded. It is getting biblical around here. But we are nice, safe and warm in our home. Thank Goodness. It is also Good Friday. And it is a Worldwide Fast Day to combat COVID 19.
I was so proud of the kids. They all fasted all day & Jeremy too. I had a dentist appt in the late morning, so I started my fast once I got back. I had a crown pop out during conference while eating a tootsie pop. Luckily, all the dentist had to do was glue it back on. I fasted all the way until Saturday morning. The prophet asked us to fast to end COVID 19, to be with all the cargivers, and to end the economic strain it is causing. Let's hope the prayers and sacrifice were heard and we can do just that. Because of the rain, it was just a nice, chill day at home. Jeremy was at work & Cali had to work a few hours too. We had Hailee here and we were able to pull off an indoor egg hunt to celebrate Easter.
She was so happy! Jeremy brought pizza home for dinner and we watched "Fighting with my Family". Such a good movie. I was beat and a little out of it, because I was still fasting, so I went to bed fairly early. During the POTUS's press conference today, there was a lot of good news about numbers of deaths and cases going down. Hoping it continues.
Day 29: Saturday 4/11
Easter Weekend!
I wasn't feeling awesome in the morning. But I got up and got some cleaning done. Jeremy was working all day from home. B of A paid him $500 for the day. In the afternoon, Cali and I got out of the house for a bit to grab lunch and some bundt cakes. Once Jeremy was done for the day, we all got cleaned up and made some deliveries. First, we saw my mom and gave her a little bundt cake tower for them to enjoy on Easter. Then we made a stop at Lawrence Welk Village, where the Bronsons are staying, and we dropped a cake off to them. It was so nice to see them. I miss hanging out with them! Then we drove up to Murrieta and took a basket and cake to Gavin and Kristin's family. We hung out with Kristin and Gavin in the parking lot for about 45 minutes.
It was so good to see them too. I really miss having him home. But it was good to see him healthy and happy. We got dinner from In n Out on the way home and stayed up way too late watching Fellowship of the Ring. The Easter Bunny was tired.
Day 30: Sunday 4/12
Easter Sunday!
I was up way too late the night before, but the kids headed in and woke us up at 7:30. Not too bad, but I was thrashed! But I got over that quickly when I saw how excited the kids were to have their Easter! COVID can't take Easter from us!
The Easter Bunny did a pretty good job of hiding the baskets and everyone was so happy with what they got!

Then we all got dressed in our Easter Best to be able to enjoy our ward's Easter Devotional via Zoom.
Cali gave an amazing talk! The whole program was so sweet and really brought the spirit into our home. We all watched Bible videos following the Devotional and the boys administered the Sacrament. We even had a little Easter Family Photo shoot!
My parents showed up around 2 with a basket for all of us!
After we spent some time with them, we grabbed food and headed to the Ranch for dinner and Easter festivities!
We kind of broke the rules with this Easter dinner. But we needed to be with family on this day. It was so nice. We all loved being together! I hope that this COVID thing goes away soon, so that we can all be together more often.
It was a wonderful Easter. The Fast on Friday really helped set the tone. I am truly grateful for my Savior and for the Faith I have. This weekend made me feel more gratitude instead of feeling down and whiny.
Day 31: Monday 4/13
Easter Hangover!
Oh man! I was so tired this morning. I moved really slow.
Brody started his "distance learning" today with his school.
And it is intense! He was busy most of the day working on the new schedule. I am so proud of all my kids though. They are getting their work done and sticking to their own schedules. I don't have to push them and they don't even complain. I check in with them throughout the day and they are on top of things. We have such good kids! I feel very blessed. But I also think that they like having something to do. I had a pretty normal day with Hailee. We did playdoh and legos, we took our walk, because the rain has finally stopped! She was really good and took a good nap. I was able to get some things organized and lots of laundry done. Cali spent her afternoon and evening at Hannah's. Hannah's grandpa died over the weekend. So, Cali went over to keep her company and cheer her up. We are being told the we might finally be at the peak of COVID. Although, the government is being very cautious. California is working with Washington and Oregon to find the best way to start opening everything back up. I hope they are able to find a good solution and soon! We had lots of leftovers from Easter, so dinner was easy. The boys watched tv, while I took a shower and started a new book. I'm trying really hard to remain positive and optimistic. That was our Monday!
Day 32: Tuesday 4/14
I hate Tuesdays!
So much for remaining positive and optimistic. I am feeling really blue. But I didn't start out that way. I actually woke up feeling great and was having a really good day. The sun was shining and we spent a lot of the day outside enjoying it. Hailee was in a good mood and loved being outside too. I Marco Polo'd Trini and Tash. Once the boys were done with their school work, we hopped in the car and went to McDonald's for a treat and a little drive down the coast. Hailee fell asleep on the way back and that's when my day went down hill. I watched the news. I have been so good at not watching the news. But I heard the Governor's press conference about how things are not getting back to normal any time soon. And the Del Mar Fair is being cancelled. Probably Comic Con too. All of my favorite things are being taken away because of this shutdown. I realize that we are in the middle of a pandemic, but come on! We've been quarantined for over a month. A month! The number of cases are decreasing. 98% of those diagnosed, recover. Only those with underlying health issues and the elderly are dying. I know I sound like a spoiled toddler, but I'm allowed! This just really sucks and I just want things to go back to the way they were. Alright, venting is over. I'm just going to keep praying, keeping my family fed and safe and happy. I did make a nice big spaghetti dinner. Jeremy put in a 12+ hour day. Everyone is watching tv together while I blog and feel sorry for myself. Hoping tomorrow I can do better!
Day 33: Wednesday 4/15
Hump Day!
So, I decided to stop acting so selfish and start thinking of others until all of this is over. I had a fun morning playing with Hailee while the kids worked on school assignments. I picked us up Chick fil A for lunch and then we loaded up and headed to the Ranch. I decided to take Cali's Senior Pics. Papa's yard is looking so pretty right now and we ended up taking some amazing pics.
Nana, Papa and Zac were so happy to see us and we all had fun hanging out for a few hours. We left around 5, to get Hailee to Meish. Jeremy actually got home at a decent time tonight and I made a yummy dinner for all. It was just a chill night and I got my shower early and now I'm off to bed!
Day 34: Thursday 4/16
Alright! Today was a good day. I woke up slow, because I ended up being up way too late because Luke was having a hard time sleeping. My head was hurting, so I was pretty foggy all day. But Hailee was pretty slow today too. We just had a chill morning, it was beautiful outside, so we spent alot of time in the back yard enjoying it.
I tried to get her to take a nap, but she was just too interested in what the kids were doing to go to sleep. But she was good and had fun playing with the kids in the afternoon. I made another nice dinner and then Jer and I started to plan our trip to Hawaii in August, when we take Cali to school. There's rumors that Fall school might be online. I will be so sad for Cali if that happens. The POTUS, in his daily press conference today, said that he has spoked to all the Governors and the country is working on a reopening plan. Our Governor also held a press conference to let us know that it will be a very slow process, based on a whole bunch of factors. Blah, Blah, Blah! Everyone is getting impatient and I just hope and pray that things start turning around and that we can get back to life soon! I also bought Cali's prom dress today. She doesn't know. I got the one she wanted. Jeremy and I are going to put on a Quarantine prom for her! Not sure when yet, but I'm excited! I keep trying to plan some things so that there are things to look forward to.
Day 35: Friday 4/17

I was able to get out and do some grocery shopping. Hailee was in a very silly mood today and that helped keep things fun and light today. The kids had light school work today too. So she got some good cousin time in. Carter came over today and played video games with the boys for a few hours. That was fun! We got our daily walk in and Hailee had some splash pad fun too. She took a nap today and so I got a little break, which was nice. Jeremy brought yummy Mama's & Papa's pizza home and we watched the new episode of The Clone Wars. It was awesome! After that, Cali and I hung out looking for Regency Era dresses. We want to watch Jane Austen movies and dress the part. But they won't get here any time soon. So, we decided not to get them. Now everyone's spread out doing their own thing. I'm going to go read after I'm done here and go to bed. I also finished the 4th book of quarantine-

The only new news today is that there's no new news. People are getting anxious and tired of all of the restrictions. The government better start relaxing them soon or everyone's just going to break the rules. Looking forward to the weekend!
Day 36: Saturday 4/18
I was up at 7:30 and watched a really cool video that motivated me. I got up and worked out, took a shower and got lots of things done around the house. It was a very productive morning. Jeremy was working from home and the kids were up doing their chores and everyone was in a great mood!
I was done with all of my chores by noon. I decided to make some cookies. Cali and I made a little delivery to the Bronsons because we miss them. And their new kitchen is done! It is so fancy! We got lots of hugs from everyone. But when we got back, I got hit with a stupid headache. So I took some meds and laid down...for 2 1/2 hours! But when I woke up, I felt so good. I was able to make a nice dinner and then Cali and I had a theme movie night! We got dressed up in the closest things we had to "Regency Era" and watched "Pride and Prejudice".
Cali had never seen it. And she loved it! I've seen it so many times and cry every time! We loved our Girls Night! The boys were up in our room watching "Strange Brew". It was Luke & Brody's first time seeing it. A rite of passage for sure! Even with my headache, it was such a great day. I went to bed feeling so happy!
Day 37: Sunday 4/19
Happy Sunday!
Got up at a decent time and made breakfast burritos for breakfast. Jeremy had ward council via Zoom at 10. After his meeting, we all get into our church clothes and had church at home. Today we had a lesson about King Benjamin's address (Mosiah 1-3). Then Jeremy had another meeting at 2 via Zoom. The rest of us changed and got stuff together to head over to the Ranch once he was done. I made some yummy pork tacos and chips and salsa and guacamole. Papa, Nana & Zac were so happy that we went over. We listened to music and sang and danced with Nana, while waiting for Ben, Meish and Hailee. Meish brought Carne Asada, Rice and Beans. We had such a delicious dinner, played outside and did chalk art on the driveway.
It was a great visit. We left around 8 and came home and watched "Strange Brew", because we wanted Cali to see it. She couldn't stand it. Not even a little bit. Oh well! Now it's late and time for bed.
People have been protesting all weekend for beaches, parks and trails to open back up. The POTUS supports this, but local governments, so far, are not. It is supposed to get nice and hot here soon, so I'm hoping they change their mind and open them back up.
Day 38: Monday 4/20
We were all pretty slow going this morning. Jeremy though, was up at 3:30 AM and at work by 4! He's crazy! Hailee and I spent the morning building a house out of cardboard boxes and decorating it. Cali, Luke & Brody were busy doing school work most of the day. At 2ish, all of us went on our daily walk and Hailee fell asleep watching a Disney Nature show. Jeremy was home by 4:00 and he and Cali went outside and tore down our playground. The thing was completely falling apart. Dinner was whatever was laying around. Then, I went upstairs and watched the first 2 episodes of-
A 10 part documentary about the Chicago Bulls of the 90's! I caught the first 2 episodes, before Jeremy came up and went to bed. Now I'm downstairs trying to get Cali and Luke to go to bed. All in all, not a bad day. Still nothing new to report in the world. Other than everybody seems to know what is best for everybody else and take every opportunity to shame everybody else on social media, the news, etc. It's really frustrating. Quarantine is hard on us all.
Day 39: Tuesday 4/21
It was not an awful Tuesday. Even when I woke up an realized that Jeremy and I were supposed to be in Rio this week. I ventured out to Target, first thing. It actually made me sad. Everyone is wearing masks, including me. So you can't see peoples' faces, no smiles. I have to check every isle before walking down, to make sure I won't go near anyone. Alot of things I needed were out of stock and then while I was checking out, a security guard stands there watching, to make sure no one purchases more than what they need. I left feeling so sad. It's just not the same. Hailee was in a good mood and to cheer myself up and make everyone happy, I got Chili's to go for lunch. Kathy came over and we had a "social distance" YW meeting in the backyard. Hailee played outside while we had our meeting. Then Cali had to go to work and the boys went with Hailee and I on our walk. She fell asleep watching "The Good Dinosaur" when we got back. I started looking for pictures and videos of Cali. I'm having a graduation video made for her. I made a yummy trip tip dinner when Jeremy got home. After dinner, they all watched "Arrested Development" while I continued to hunt down pictures. I was up way too late. The City of San Diego has eased some restrictions and opened some parks and trails, as long as people practice social distancing. The POTUS has shut down all imigration for 60 days. Everyone is arguing and debating the best way to open up the country. It is very frustrating.
Day 40: Wednesday 4/22
Earth Day!
We woke up to the most beautiful, sunny day! But I was so tired. I had a rough night of non-sleep. So, I was a little slow going. The kids did school and I played with Hailee. After lunch, we went to the Ranch to enjoy the pool & sunshine.
It was so nice. And Papa and Nana and Zac were so happy to see us. We stayed for a couple of hours and then headed home. I was hoping that Hailee would take a nap, but she was too pumped today. Cali headed up a fun zoom chat game night with the YW. We played Scattergories and it was totally fun. Jeremy worked late, but is now home and we are all just chilling. I'm hoping to go to bed early tonight. The Mayor of San Diego announced that beaches and parks will reopen "soon". But until then, we are so blessed to be able to enjoy our warm days at the Ranch.
Day 41: Thursday 4/23
Today was an action-packed day! My mom came over in the morning and cut my hair. It's gotten so thick and the ends are totally damaged. So she thinned it out and trimmed it up for me. It felt so nice and I'm so grateful that she lives close by to be able to do it. The boys kept an eye on Hailee and Cali was at work. After my haircut, I went and got lunch for the kids. After lunch, Gammy came back over and we attempted to get the gray out of my hair with some box color I got at Target.
It was so easy and quick and it actually looks really good!
I love it! My mom was really surprised that it turned out so well. But that's because I had her to help me. I probably would have botched the whole thing. Then I got my 49ers shirt on and sat down to watch the first round of the NFL Draft.
I just cried. I miss sports so much. But ESPN and the NFL did such a great job of running a virtual draft and it just felt nice to have some sort of normalcy in the world again. Jeremy got home and BBQ'd chicken for dinner. Carter, Chloe and Carter's new gf, Katelyn (sp?), came over. She's really cool and we really like her. Then I spent the rest of the night just watching the draft with my boys. Cali had lots of homework. It was a really great day! Not sure what the COVID update is, because, at this point, I really don't care!
Day 42: Friday 4/24
Woke up to an absolutely summer feeling day! But I also woke up with a nice migraine. Luckily, Hailee was way tired when she arrived and allowed me to rest and cuddle her on the couch for an hour or so while my meds kicked in. Once I felt better, we made some banana bread and I did some chores.
The kids were busy all morning doing school. When they were finally done, we loaded up and went to the Ranch. Meish got off early and her and Ben met us there. It was so beautiful and we had so much fun swimming and enjoying the weather.
Jeremy ended up having an early day too and headed over. We got pizza and watched tv. It was a fun family night!
The county announced today, that beaches and parks can open up on Monday, as long as people keep 6ft apart and wear face masks. Surfing is allowed again. But parking lots will remain closed. Its not awesome, but it is something.
Day 43: Saturday 4/25
PROMANTINE 2020!
OK, today might have been just the best day ever. Ever! Not just in quarantine! It did start a little slow though. I woke up with another stinking headache. But I couldn't let it stop me! I got up and did lots of chores. Got the house looking really nice. It felt good. I had to run to the store and get some things and it was actually a good experience. So, I have been planning a surprise prom for Cali for the last week or so. It's been fun to have something to look forward to. And today I worked so hard and prayed so hard that everything would fall in to place and it did! Cali ended up having a "playdate" lunch with Tyler. That got her out of the house for a couple of hours. I laid out the dress she wanted on her bed with a little chalkboard invite and some flowers.
Then I decorated the playroom with some streamers and a 2020 sign. Then I waited and waited until she got home. I hid in her closet and video'd her coming into her room and seeing everything. She was totally surprised!
But before we started getting ready, we had to do a little birthday driveby for the Dore twins-
They are the best! We love them so much!
Then we came home and got ready for Prom! I did her nails a pretty light purple. Then she tried on the dress and it fit perfect! She didn't want to take it off! But she did for a little bit so that I could do her hair and makeup. I watched a YouTube video for a cute easy hairstyle and I pulled it off!
Woohoo!
I decorated the kitchen table all fancy and Jeremy got Olive Garden TakeOut.
Then we had the Prom Photo Shoot! I took so many pictures, but here are some of my favorites:
One of my favorite parts of the night, was when these 2 came running down the stairs all dressed up!
At 7:00 PM, we headed up to the Playroom for the dance party!
I put together a rad playlist and we had so much fun dancing, even though it was like 100 degrees up in that room!
We (may have) broke the law and invited the Bronsons-
But it was so worth it! They stayed for about an hour and made Cali's night so special. Then these fools showed up around 8-
And the party kept going until 9:00 PM!
Cali was crowned the Prom Queen and Yoda was crowned Prom King!
The night ended with a sweet Daddy/Daughter/Mommy dance to "What a Wonderful World"-
It was truly the sweetest night! We loved it so much! Cali loved it so much! I am so glad we could make a sweet memory for her to always remember her Senior Prom - Promantine 2020!
Having her BFF/Bestie Cousin there made it even more special. Thank You to everyone who made our sweet angel's day so memorable!
Day 44: Sunday 4/26
HANGOVER!
Oh man! I woke up feeling like I got hit by a train. Everything hurt and I was so, so tired. Prom kicked my butt! I don't know what time Jeremy got up, but when I rolled out of bed around 9:00 AM, he was already in his "home office" (the garage), and had been out there a couple of hours. I slowly made breakfast and then sat on the couch for most of the morning. Cali rolled out of bed around 10 and Luke showed up around 11! We were all beat! Brody was up at 7:00, as usual and wasn't even tired. I was so out of it all day! I finally got dressed around noon. And I continued to just lay on the couch and chill. At 2:00, I joined an online book club discussion about the books I've been reading with my friend Renee. It was fun! Jeremy finished working at 2:30 and his parents showed up around 3. And Zac too! I ended up making us all dinner and Ben, Meish and Hailee came too. I was so tired, that I just sat on the couch some more after I made the dinner. Everyone left around 8 and then I was planning on going to bed. But everyone except Luke went to bed. So I stayed up until he was ready. So I ended up going to bed around 10. Everthing in my body was so exhausted. Hoping for a good night's sleep.
Day 45: Monday 4/27
I slept great and woke up feeling good! A little slow going, but good. Hailee got here around 9 and she was sleepy. The kids all got up and did their schoolwork, like good little students. I got alot done around the house and some projects completed. Hailee was so good all morning and we even got in our walk before lunch. While playing outside, we even got a visit from a king snake and it totally freaked us out! She fell asleep around 2:30 and slept for 2 1/2 hours. That was so nice. I got a nice break. The kids all finished around 4 and we were able to hang out. Cali started reading Twilight and she is loving it!
The boys got to play some video games. When Hailee woke up, we went outside and played until Meish came. It was such a beautiful day today. I made a nice dinner and then Jeremy got home around 8, after surfing 2 times today! He was so happy! I've pretty much stopped watching the news. There is just too much politics, contradictions and meaningless predictions. I just wait for twitter to give me updates and that's about it. Gavin texted me yesterday and said that he will get to go back to work on May 4th. So he said he will be moving back home on the 3rd. Fingers crossed!
Day 46: Tuesday 4/28
Typical Tuesday.
Gosh, Tuesdays kill me! I was so tired, so anxious and antsy all day! I did get to the store and Target and I think I've got everything for Luke's Birthday worked out. The day seemed to just go really slow. Hailee was pretty whiny all day. But we did manage to do some fun things like playing up in the playroom and got a nice walk in.
She also took a nice nap. Cali had school and work. The boys were working on school stuff ALL day! Did I mention that Gavin is moving back? He gets to go back to work on Monday the 4th. So, he is coming back on the 3rd. I'm so glad. We have missed him very much. Jeremy worked from home today. He's got a little set up in the garage. He was out there at 7:00 AM and worked until 6:30 PM. He has just been working the most insane amount of time! Once Hailee left for the day, he and I decided we needed to go for a drive. We drove to Oceanside and walked and watched the sunset. Then we found a spot on the rocks at Buccaneer, where we sat until past dark watching the red tide.
The bioluminescence is magical to watch! The waves light up the most beautiful blue color when they break. It was so nice to get out and to breathe in and see the ocean. It calmed me. When we got home, I was up way too late on a House Party call with GNS.
But I just miss them so much! The Governor announced today that some businesses can start opening up next week. He also said that schools might have to start the 2020-2021 school year in July! Nobody wants that. There's supposed to be a super superintendant meeting on Friday to discuss all of that. I really hope they just let everything go back to normal, as usual in August. But this thing changes everyday! So who knows? It is nice that the beaches are open. There were so many people there tonight, but everyone was being very careful at keeping a safe distance. And everyone was just so friendly and happy. I am grateful that we have been healthy and I hope that we continue to stay well.
Day 47: Wednesday 4/29
Started Good. Ended Bad.
Ugh. I'm losing it. I'm having a rough day, because I just don't want to do this anymore. I try to stay hopeful and positive, but sometimes, I just can't. Instead of loosening restrictions, the Governor has decided that he doesn't like us enjoying our freedoms, so he is tightening them. Hospitals are empty. People have lost their jobs and businesses. Yes, people are dying, but it truly is the elderly and those with underlying conditions. I'm so conflicted in so many ways. But mostly, I just want things to go back to the way they were. And it looks like they never will. I'm not dealing with that very well.
All Beaches and Parks will be closed indefinitely starting Friday. Everyone is required to wear masks when out in public. I feel like a prisoner and I don't like it.
The day went pretty good though. Hailee and I had fun playing, Jeremy worked from home again and joined us on our walk. Cali got her work done early and went to Hannah's. Luke and Brody were busy all day doing homework. I made an awesome chicken dinner and then I went upstairs and watched episodes 3 & 4 of "The Last Dance" (Chicago Bulls Documentary). So, now I'm trying to figure out if I should go to bed. I don't want to, because tomorrow is just another day. Just another stupid day in quarantine.
Day 48: Thursday 4/30
Better!
OK, I got over my pity party. I'm still not loving this lock down, but there were some positive developments today. So, the Governor came under a ton of fire from the cities and decided to let the cities keep their parks and beaches open, except for Orange County. He's basically using them as an example. Putting them in "time out" for not doing things his way. But, we get to keep ours open, so I'm happy. To celebrate, I took Hailee on a nice walk down the beach this morning.
It was so healing! It just makes everything better. I picked up lunch on the way home for the boys and got some errands run. Came home and had a lovely lunch and play time with Hailee. We went on our usual walk to the school and back and played with Cali when she got home from work. I tried to get her down for a nap around 3. She laid down for an hour, but didn't sleep. So, we went outside and played with chalk until her mommy came. Jeremy worked from the garage again until about 6. Then I made a nice dinner and we all sat down to eat together. I do like that part of quarantine. I will miss it. After dinner, I booked our flights to Hawaii.
Jeremy and I will take Cali to school, the last week of August! Her ticket was one way!! I just hope & hope & hope that she gets to go. That all of this will get under control so that she can attend her first semester of College. Tomorrow is Luke's 17th Birthday! Looking forward to celebrating him all day/weekend!
Day 49: Friday 5/1
Lukey's Birthday!
We were supposed to be headed to Anaheim this weekend, staying in a hotel, spending a couple days at Disneyland and letting Luke build his own lightsaber. BUT, because of Covid, we are stuck here at home and we did our best to make it a good day! He got to sleep in until 10 and woke up to 2 12 packs of Dr. Pepper at his bedroom door. He was serenaded by Cali and Brody as he came downstairs to "Dancing Queen". I made cinnamon rolls and sausage for breakfast and he spent the morning playing video games. The rest of us kept Hailee busy so that he could do whatever he wanted. Around noon, he started to feel a little down. I think everything hit him. So, Cali came to the rescue and took him and Brody for a ride and to In n Out for some lunch. When they got back, he was in a much better mood. He continued to play video games with Brody and Cali for the rest of the afternoon. We watched "Emperor's New Groove" to try and get Hailee to take a nap. Carter showed up and there was no way she was going to sleep with someone new in the house. We all enjoyed the movie and then Meish came for Hailee. Gavin and Kristin showed up around 5:30 and Jer got "Islands" for dinner for all of us! It was so fun to be all together! After dinner, Lukey opened his presents.
Then we headed outside and watched Luke demolish the sloth pinata-
Once we picked up all the candy, we headed in for some singing and brownies-
Chloe and Gammy & Papa showed up too!
We all hung out until about 9. That's when all of our guests started to leave. Gavin and Kristin headed back up to Murrieta too. The rest of us snuggled up on the couch and watched "Holes". He said it was a good day. I think he felt the love. And we really really love him so much! Happy 17th Birthday Lukey Dukes!
Day 50: Saturday 5/2
Today I slept in until 9. But, I woke up with a stupid headache. I came downstairs to find Jeremy meeting with Dan Frame, Carl and Karen. Dan will be building the guesthouse for Nana and Papa. Plans are finished and ready to submit. Now I have to prepare myself to be able to break the news to my parents that they will need to move off of our property. Such a difficult thing to do. Hopefully everything will work out and I'll be able to still have good relationships with both sets of parents when they both get their houses done. After they left, I really wanted to get some chores done, but I ended up taking medicine and laying down. I woke up around 1:30 and felt better, but totally out of it. I ate lunch and watched a really powerful ESPN documentary called "Project 11", about Alex Smith. It had me in tears! I was able to get a few things done after that and then Carter came over and hung out for a bit and played video games with Brody. Luke spent the afternoon building a lego set and Cali has been hanging out all day with Hannah. I put my tv in their room and they've been watching musicals all day, in formal wear! I went and got us pizza for dinner and then Jeremy and the boys and I watched "Knives Out". It was a really cool movie. Nothing much to report about COVID. More cases being reported in the county everyday. Today it was around 100. There were 5 more deaths. Some states are opening back up this week. I guess we will see how that goes and hopefully we will start opening up too. Jeremy continues to work long hours. He worked another 8 hours today and is expected to put time in again tomorrow. He's getting paid extra, but I can tell it is taking a toll on him.
Day 51: Sunday 5/3
I am writing this a few days late. Its been a busier and happier week for sure! So let's see. I think I kind of slept in. I made a yummy breakfast for those who wanted to eat it. Jeremy was up at 5 to work. Around Noon we all got dressed and had church. Then we all changed and I grabbed a bunch of food and we headed to the Ranch. It was a beautiful day!
I laid out for about an hour and then jumped in the pool to cool off. It was heavenly! We BBQ'd for dinner and celebrated Luke's birthday.
We got home around 8;30 and then Jeremy and I headed to the Joneses for (illegal) Game Night! It was so fun to all be together again. We were out way too late, but it was worth it! Gavin moved back home and brought Kristin with him. She will be staying with us for the week. He goes back to work tomorrow. Yay!
Day 52: Monday 5/4
May the 4th be with you!
I was determined to make this a good day! I woke with a headache, but didn't let it get me down! At 8:30, Carter showed up. He just wanted to hang out. When Hailee got here, she latched onto "Kristmen". She spent the whole morning playing up in the playroom with her. Around 11, I threw everyone in the car and we went to Chick fil a for lunch. Then we made a Papusa delivery to Christian. We all hung out on the front porch and talked for about 30 minutes, while Joel threw candy at us. It was a fun little field trip. When we got back, Carter left and I got to run to the store. Kristin and I took Hailee for her walk and then were blessed with her taking a nice long nap. That let me get the house ready for a May the 4th party!
We did have the original trilogy on all day. After Hailee left, I made a big pot of homemade mac n cheese and some xwing pigs and a blanket!
I even made som Stormtrooper cookies!
And everyone got masks!
We watched the final episode of The Mandalorian and finished the night with Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. It was a great day and we all had so much fun together!
Day 53: Tuesday 5/5
Cinco De Mayo!
Again, I wanted to make this a fun day. I ordered fun little sombreros for all of us and Hailee showed up with her own cute headband!
We spent the day playing and dancing around the house. Tuesdays are rough for me and I felt antsy and a little out of it, most of the day. But when Jeremy finished for the day, I headed upstairs, freshened up and joined my OCC's for a fun Zoom party! I had also sent most of them sombreros too! So it was fun to see them enjoying them!
I was only on the call for about 20 minutes, because I had to make food for a Cinco de Mayo (illegal) party at the Compound! The boys and Kristin wanted to stay home. So, I left them money and they got in n out and had their own party here with Ramos! The rest of us headed to the Bronsons!
When we got home, the kids were having the most fun hanging out and playing games. I just laid on my bed and listened to all the happiness while I read my book. Another wonderful day!
Day 54: Wednesday 5/6
Hump Day!
It was a pretty day and I wanted to get out and enjoy it!
I picked up Chloe and took the girls out for a little flower picking at this cute family farm in Bonsall.
It was hot, but so fun! And it was HOT! After getting our flowers, we stopped and got Panera for lunch.
Chloe ended up spending the afternoon hanging out with us and Hailee got an awesome nap! Jeremy worked from the beach today. When he got home, my head was starting to hurt. I made dinner and went upstairs to lay down. But then Carter, Chloe and Christian showed up and they joined Jeremy, Papa, Luke and Brody to put the McEwans' trampoline together. We inherited it when they moved back from Florida.
They had a blast putting it together and I had so much fun watching! They all left when it was done and then I returned to my bed, feeling much better and spent the rest of the night reading and finishing my 4th book of quarantine!
I was able to get to bed at a decent hour too! It was another great day!
Day 55: Thursday 5/7
I slept so good and woke up feeling so good! Jeremy went into the office to work today. Hailee showed up and spent most of the morning on the trampoline with Kristin and I.
It started to get hot and we were hungry, so we got Yellow Deli for lunch. So Yummy!
After lunch, the girls, Brody and I, took a nice drive down the coast and got some Peppertree on the way home. Hailee fell asleep in the car and slept for almost 3 hours. I rested and watched a cool Mandalorian documentary and some Sportscenter. The NFL released the 2020 schedule! I really hope it happens! I miss sports! When Hailee woke up, we went outside and jumped some more until Meish came. She brought Cali, Kristin and I roses and bundtinis to thank us for watching her little girl. She's the best! I made pasta for dinner and then headed upstairs for the night to just chill. It has been such a fun week, but I'm also so tired! No real new news about COVID. People and businesses are really starting to relax restrictions on their own. The Governor has introduced "phase" reopening, but it makes no sense. More businesses are supposed to open up this weekend and we are all just hoping that beaches open up to all soon and that schools will be back in session in the Fall. But it has been a really good week and I hope I can keep it up!
Day 56: Friday 5/8
Today I had big plans and they were kind of thrown off because of COVID. I wanted to take the girls (Kristin, Cali and Hailee), Strawberry picking. So we drove down to the Strawberry fields in Carlsbad. They wouldn't let us pick any because we forgot Cali's and Kristin's face masks. Dangit! So we bought some pre-picked strawberries instead and still took cute pics.
Our next stop was the flower stand to get flowers for Meish, my mom and Kaci. And once again, only I could go in because I was the only one who had a face mask. Grrrrrrr! But, I was able to get some pretty flowers and even a cute balloon for Meish. After we got home and had some lunch, we washed all of the strawberries, melted some chocolate chips, and dipped the berries in the chocolate! They turned out so good! Brody had a great day because we finally let Sam come over and play. He stayed ALL day! We spent the rest of the afternoon jumping on the trampoline. Hailee did not take a nap again. But she was so happy to give her mommy the balloon, flowers and chocolate dipped strawberries when she came to pick her up. I was so tired. I did not sleep well this week. Jeremy brought home gross pizza for dinner and I did not want it. He's been working at the office again. So, he took me to Taco Bell and we got his truck washed for a little date. When we got back, Gavin and Kristin had taken over the tv, so Cali, Jeremy and I went upstairs and watched "Little Women". It was Teacher Appreciation Week and Cali really wanted to do something nice for Kaci. So, after the movie, we took over the flowers we got her and some chocolate dipped strawberries. It made her day! And we ended up hanging out until after midnight. Doh!
Day 57: Saturday 5/9
I should not have stayed up so late!
I woke up with a nasty headache. But I did not want it to stop me from getting stuff done and enjoying, essentially, my only day off. After my shower, I came down and cleaned up the house and headed to the store for Mothers Day food items. When I got home, I laid down and tried to get rid of the headache. An hour and a half later, it was still there. So, I took more medicine, ate lunch and laid down some more. I had planned a Mothers Day date night with my mom, so I needed to feel good. Around 4:30, I got ready and most of the headache was gone. At 5, Cali and I met up with my mom and took her down to the beach for a nice walk.
Then we picked up her favorite take out from Red Lobster and came back to our house to eat it. She felt really special getting some time with us and I am so glad I felt well enough to make it happen. I got her a sweet card, a rose and some chocolate dipped strawberries. It was a fun night. Gavin had some friends over, so once again, Cali and I headed upstairs and we watched "Sense and Sensibility". We had never seen it and we loved it! We are loving all of the Jane Austen movies we are getting in! After our movie, Gavin took Kristin home, so we had to say goodbye. It was really nice having her here this week. Unfortunately, my headache grew and I had to take more medicine to go to sleep. I want so badly to feel good for Mothers Day tomorrow.
As for COVID updates, life is very slowly opening back up. Certain businesses opened up this weekend, but social distancing is in place. Parking lots are still closed and parks and beaches, but we can use them for recreational purposes. The Govenor announced that California can not move on to the next phase until we have no new deaths or cases for 14 days straight! That is impossible! People are really starting to get angry and break the rules and just do what they want, because it's hurting people and businesses to be shut down for so long. As of today, there's a little over 4900 cases in San Diego County and 175 deaths. Once again, elderly and those with underlying conditions are those that are dying. It's just a wait and see game that everyone is getting sick of playing. But we will keep following the rules as best we can. I pray for patience, health and an end to this soon everyday.
Day 58: Sunday 5/10
Mothers Day!
Always such a wonderful day. I love my family and the special things they do to show me their love. They brought me breakfast in bed around 8:30. They sang a song as they brought the food in. And there was more food than we could all eat together! Eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, toast and avocado! It was delicious.
The kids all made me cards that I absolutely love! Jeremy got me a Friends trivia game.
After breakfast, we all got ready for church. Our ward was doing a Zoom devotional. The missionaries gave talks, as well as Tyler Rohner. The Bronson girls sang and it made me cry.
The Bishopric and YM leaders even dropped off a gift!
After the meeting, my boys administered the Sacrament. Then we took the annual couch pic-
Then we watched The Sound of Music and I made myself a yummy salad. Once the movie was over, we changed our clothes, grabbed the food and headed over to the Ranch. It was a cold and cloudy day, so my dream of laying out at the pool didn't happen. But we had so much fun hanging out with the fam and stuffing ourselves fool of amazing food!
It was a glorious day and I really felt the love. I love being a mom and really hope and I pray everyday that I can do it well and with the help of my Father in Heaven. I know I mess up alot, but I also know that even though I feel like I'm not doing that great a job, Elder Holland has promised that I "am doing better than I think I am." I sure hope so!
Day 59: Monday 5/11
Blah
Today was definitely a Monday. I had a rough night with a bad headache. I woke up soooo tired and worn out. Luckily, Hailee was pretty tired and worn out too. So we had a nice morning. I was able to get all of Cali's graduation announcements addressed and mailed. Carter showed up around 10 to hang out. Hailee was grumpy and didn't want to play with him. But then Gammy showed up and hung out with us for a bit too. She brought Hailee a coloring book and that cheered her up. Around lunch time, Carter went over to Gammy's for food, while I got food for my kiddos. They were all busy doing school and Cali took her first AP test. She was finished up around 2 and was so glad to be done. To celebrate, we went on a walk with Hailee and then tried to rest and get her to sleep. But she wasn't having it. So, we watched a new Disney Family Sing a long until Meish came. I was just not in the mood to make dinner. When Jeremy got home, we ran to Round Table and got some pizza. I was in a good mood and everything was going fine. Until Gavin said something that really hurt my feelings. It brought me way down. I decided to just disappear and get some things cleaned up around the house and stay out of his way. Then Jeremy snapped at me while I was cleaning up and I totally just went downhill. I just laid down and started to cry. I couldn't understand why I always seem to say the wrong things and then they lash out and it just hurts. So, I went into the garage and sat in my car and listened to a conference talk by President Eyring. It really helped me and I felt a little better. I came in and went upstairs and watched the Michael Jordan documentary. The Last Dance, episodes 7 & 8. I figured if I wasn't around to piss anyone off, that was ok. I'm just hoping to survive the next few minutes and then start over tomorrow.
Day 60: Tuesday 5/12
Better
Today was better. I was still way out of it, but slept so much better last night. I was able to run to Target this morning and get some things. Cali had her last AP test and is so glad to be done! Hailee was whiny, but played really good all day. No nap again. My mom came over and hung out for a bit this morning too. I got some laundry done, more announcements out and some trampoline time in with Hailee. Jeremy came home early and worked the rest of the day from home. He joined us on our afternoon walk. Cali went over to Hannah's for the rest of the day. I made a nice dinner and Ramos joined us when Gav got home from work. We all watched a cool new show on Disney + called Prop Culture about movie prop collectors. Then the boys went outside and played on the trampoline until 9:30! They were having so much fun! We got word tonight that Mission Vista will be having a "Drive through" graduation on June 3rd. No details yet. But at least it's something. Governor said malls and strip malls and restaurants can all open, but only for pick up and delivery. So, that's all the new updates today.
