Grown Up Road Trip

Jen tuned 40 last month and we wanted to do something extra special for her.  Adam booked an AirBnB in Santa Barbara for a few days.  On Wednesday, August 12th, we loaded up our bikes and off we went.  Just us grown ups!  We were so excited for our first ever Grown Up Road Trip!

 This is the house we stayed in!  It was so cute and close to everything we wanted to do.  La Maison.

 We got all settled and some of us road bikes and some of us rode in the car to get some delicious pizza for dinner.  When we got home, we played some games and then rode our bikes 1 block away to State Street to get some ice cream.

 State Street is only open to pedestrians and bikers for blocks and blocks.  We rode up and down and all around!

Thurday August 13th!

We went on a hike to Montecito Hot Springs.  It was beautiful!

 After our awesome hike, we grabbed Brian and the bikes and rode to lunch.  We ate the most delicious food and then spent the rest of the day riding around Santa Barbara!

We were all beat from our ride, and HOT!  We relaxed and napped in the house until dinner.  We got our going out clothes on and ate at the Santa Barbara Public Market.  Another yummy meal! 

We were up late playing games... 

 And even had a midnight hot tub party!

Friday the 14th, we slept in and got all packed up and cleaned the house.  Before leaving, the girls took advantage of the photo booth props for a little goodbye photo shoot-

 Goodbye La Maison!  You were good to us!

 We found a yummy brunch place and then drove back down to the coast for some more bike riding.

 And we got some amazing shaved ice-

 We loaded up the bikes and parked up on the cliffs.  We hiked down to the beach and had a quick swim.

Then we said goodbye to Santa Barbara and hopped in the stopped traffic to head home.  We did make one last stop for dinner in Ventura and then dropped Adam and Jen off in Valencia.  The rest of us had a nice drive home while singing "Hamilton" songs.

It was so much fun.  We are so blessed with such great friends!  I can't wait to do this again.

Another Senior.

Another uncertain Senior Year.

But on August 3rd, I took Lukey to MV to get his Senior Pictures taken.  It was nice to have a little sense of normalcy.

 We waited and waited for over an hour, but then he looked so cute and old...

Gosh I love this kid!  I hope he gets to have a fun and memorable senior year.  Fingers Crossed!

Coronadovirus Weekend

We had plans to go to Chicago after graduation.  But, COVID ruined those plans.  So, she wanted to go on a road trip with a friend.  But that fell through.  So, I came up with a backup, backup plan and we celebrated the last weekend in July in Coronado!

I found a killer deal on a room at the Loew's Coronado Bay Resort.  On Friday, July 31st, we dropped off Hailee early and the two of us packed our bikes up in Honey and checked in!

We started our weekend with dinner from the Burger Lounge and we ate it in the park.

 

 We walked around a bit and took in the sights.

 We stopped to check out the sunset at Silver Strand on the way back to the hotel.

 Then we just chilled back at our room and watched Friends until bedtime.

Saturday, August 1st!-

We slept in and had brunch by the pool.  Then we drove into town and went to the cutest book store and got some books.  My bike had a flat tire, so we went and got gelato while the nice bike store fixed my tire.

 After getting the bike fixed, we laid by the pool for a couple of hours and I even got a nap!

 Around 4, we hopped on our bikes and road the bike path all the way to Orange Avenue, near the ferry landing.

 And we had the most delicious dinner at Saiko Sushi!  Cali was so happy!  She cried!

 Then we had to ride our bikes back the 5 miles and our bodies started to rebel.  Cali's whole body broke out in hives while we rode and my hand stopped gripping the handlbar and my hip felt like it was going to pop out.  We made it back to the hotel, just as it got dark.  We were exhausted!  But so happy!

Sunday, August 2nd-

We slept in again and had a yummy breakfast at the hotel, while watching The Office.  After checking out at noon, we headed back into Coronado to do some more sight seeing.

 Once we had our fill of Coronado, we decided to head to Point Loma and visit the lighthouse.

 Cali was hungry and wanted a sandwich.  So, we hopped in the car and raced to the Glider Port in La Jolla to get sandwiches.  But, when we got there, they were out of sandwich meat.  Bummer!  But look at the view-

 We headed to Del Mar to continue our sandwich search.  Our sandwich place was closed, but, luckily, there was an Urban Plates in the shopping center and we both cheered!  So good!

 We weren't ready to go home, so we drove up the coast all the way to Oceanside Harbor and read our books on the beach.

It was such a perfect and relaxing and fun and adventurous weekend!  I'm glad I could make it happen for her!
