Suck it Cancer Weekend!

To celebrate Vicky's Cancer being gone, we decided to participate in the Susan G Komen 3 Day Walk as an official cheer station on the route.  We rented a house on the beach in Mission Beach for the weekend.
It was a beautiful house right on the bay and Jackie had the house filled with the most beautiful flowers.

Everyone got there Wednesday night and I arrived Thursday afternoon.  Once I was settled, we got ready and went out on the town!  Look at the beautiful guest of honor-
We had a lovely dinner at a beautiful restaurant in La Jolla, Herringbone.
After dinner, we headed over to the La Jolla Playhouse for a play about Van Gogh.

It was hard to stay awake and actually, a couple of the ladies did not stay up for the whole thing.  But it was still so fun to be out together.
We came back to the house and spent the rest of the evening opening our presents to each other.

We spoiled each other with pampering gifts and LOTS of matching PJ's!  We stayed up late just hanging out and talking about life.  We are all so different, but so much the same and have this incredible bond.  I love having them in my life.
We had to be up early on Friday to move our cars.  Every night and every morning, we had to move our cars from the street, so that we wouldn't get ticketed.
After our morning parking and walking adventures, we all got on our matching "#momsarenotok" sweatshirts and headed to breakfast at The Mission.  It was so delicious!

Then we hopped in the car and headed to the Fairmount Grand Del Mar for magical massages and relaxation!

After snacks and drinks at the pool, we headed back to the house to change and get ready for a fun night at Rose's School for a play she was in.
It was so sweet to have us all there to cheer Rose on with her family.  She felt so special.  We love this family!
We were all starving after the play, but were too tired to go out.  Yvonne threw together this lovely spread and we threw on some more of our matching pj's and had ourselves another slumber party.

It has been kind of fun that Vicky can't drink.  It is fun to have a sober buddy!

Day 2 of the Susan G Komen 3 Day Walk for the Cure
While everyone was getting theirselves all beautiful, I made breakfast!
Then we spent the rest of the morning decorating the porch to cheer on the walkers!
We had lots of swag to give to the participants!

We put on our matching outfits, headbands and grabbed our pink pom poms and spent the whole afternoon cheering on these amazing people.  So many stopped to grab stickers, tattoos and candy from our baskets.  We got to hear their stories of survival, support, tragedy and triumph!  It was such an amazing experience.  I am so grateful that we decided to do this and that we got to do it together!

It was such an incredible day!  I cheered my little heart out until the very last walker went by that afternoon and I was exhausted!  I was also starving!  I hadn't eaten anything since breakfast!  Jackie had to leave us and head back to Dallas.  The rest of us slowly got dressed and we drove to downtown and took the ferry over to Coronado and had a wonderful dinner at Peohe's.

It was such a beautiful night and the food was so good!  And look at that view!
We got back to the house and started cleaning and packing up.  We were so tired.  Jenni had to leave early in the morning, so we told her goodbye.  I slept terrible that night and poor Yvonne was up puking all night.
But we got up early to move our cars on Sunday and then we went one last walk around the bay.  Yvonne, Vicky and I spent the rest of the morning cleaning up and checking out.
We hugged goodbye and I felt so happy and full of joy because of this positive, upbeat, loving experience.  Cancer Sucks!  It almost took my friend from me and she fought hard and won.  I hope a cure is found soon.  Grateful for Vicky and all of my friends.

You Can't Stop the Beat!

 Tuesday 11/16
Broadway SD opened back up finally and we went opening night to see Hairspray!
It's one of Cali's favorites and it was so much fun and so well done!  So glad we get to go to musicals again!  We missed them.

Brody's 1st NFL Game

Brody has been wanting to go to an NFL game for a while.  And this year I told him that I would make that happen.  Back in September I looked at the schedule to see if his favorite team, the Carolina Panthers were going to play at all in California.  Nope!  The closest they were playing was Arizona.  So, I got tickets to the Cardinals v. Panthers game on the November 14th and decided we would road trip it!

And then guess what happened?!?!
Cam Newton is Brody's favorite player.  He was let go from the Panthers at the end of the 2019 season.  He was picked up by the Patriots (Boo!).  Then, in September, a couple days before the regular season started, he was cut from the team.  Brody was heartbroken.  Fast forward to literally the week before we are supposed to go to Arizona and the Panthers re-sign Cam Newton and his first game back would be this Sunday!!!!!  NO FREAKING WAY!!!!!
We hopped in the car Saturday morning (11/13) and made it to Arizona in the afternoon.  After a nap and some dinner from in n out, we stopped by Michael's and made these amazing signs.  We woke up to a beautiful day on Sunday and got to the Stadium 4 hours early!  Pretty much the first car in the parking lot!
We sat in the car for an hour or so, before heading to the gates.  We were one of the first ones in when the gates opened 2 hours before the game!  We ran straight to the visitor's tunnel to see the team come out and warm up.  As soon as we got our spot, Cam ran right by us!  I thought Brody was going to pass out!
We got to see everyone on the team and cheer them on!  And they loved our signs!
We were able to be right above the Offensive Huddle as they got ready to run out for the game!

Cam Baby!

We had to go up to our real seats when the game started.  They were up high, but we had a great view.

3rd Drive of the game, they put Cam in as QB.  We lost it!  And HE RAN IT IN FOR A TD!!!  This could not have been a more magical moment for Brody!  And me!  Such a rad memory!
He continued to go in as QB throughout the game and threw 2 more touchdowns.  We were able to run back down to the tunnel and sit there in the 4th qtr and stayed there until the end of the game.  We got to cheer on everyone as they returned to the locker room!  We were pumped!
We were on such a high after this game and it was a good thing too!  We hopped in the car and headed home.  The drive wasn't bad at all.  We were so happy!  I love that I was able to have this experience with Brody!  It is unforgettable!

Veterans Day 2021

It was a beautiful one this year!  Papa has a caregiver that watches Nana on Thursdays.  So, he got to join us at the beach!  I love November Beach Days.  And thank you Veterans!

Melchizedek Priesthood

Well, now that Luke's papers have been submitted, he need to be ordained an Elder.  On Sunday, November 7, 2021, he received the Melchizedek Priesthood from his dad, brother, and Grandpas.  It was a very special day for our family!

The Breast Cancer 1 Day

My beautiful friend Vicky was diagnosed with Breast Cancer earlier this year and has been fighting her butt off to beat it.  October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and we helped to raise a bunch of money for research in her honor.

In November, Yvonne, Jeremy and I joined Vicky's team and did the 5K in Balboa Park.  She wasn't feeling up to the walk, so we walked with her kids and some other friends.  It was pretty special.

Cancer Sucks!  The Hell she has been through this year trying to get rid of this stupid disease is just awful.  But she has fought it so bravely and I am so glad to report that she is now cancer free!  Take that Cancer!
