A Happy Weekend

There was no Spring Break Road Trip this year...so we yanked the kids out of school for a couple of days and made a quick trip up to Utah for Candace's wedding! We tried to make it more fun by making stops we don't normally make. Like this one at the Alien Jerky place is Baker, CA.-

And this one in Nephi, UT. We loved this diner and will absolutely return again! You order on the phone at your table...then they "beep" you when it's ready. The food was really yummy!

We made it to Granny's safe and sound (Fri 4/26) and played before bed. The boys built fun things with her Jenga blocks...

While the rest of us played cards (of course).

On Saturday, April 27th, Jeremy and I left the kids with Granny and Gammy and headed up to the Draper temple. We got to see Candace be sealed to Cody. It was pretty special. And she was so happy! And beautiful...

And Cassie was finally able to share the big news...SHE'S PREGNANT!!! I am going to be a GrandNanny! So Excited!

The reception wasn't until 6:30 that evening, so Jeremy and I hopped on yelp and found the coolest deli in S. Jordan. "Pop on Over Deli". I had the most amazing sandwich and he had a calzone. It was so yummy! Then we drove up to Park City and checked into our hotel. I got to take a nap! That was awesome! Jeremy went swimming in the indoor pool...and then we got ready for the reception at Promontory. My mom came up and met us at the hotel and then it was off to the party!

This was a pretty happy day for Kev and I. We decided to play nice for this pic...

The reception was very small. Only close family and friends were invited...and no kids (ours spent the day with their Granny). It was very elegant and had a nautical theme, because Candace and Cody call each other "lighthouse" and "anchor". I was asked to offer a speech/toast thingy. I was told it was pretty good. I was just glad I didn't cry through the whole thing like I did at Cassie's wedding. I was doing really good, until this happened-

Then I balled like a baby!

To finish off the night, all the guests lit paper lanterns and let them off of the balcony. It was pretty neat. Jeremy didn't do ours right, so ours went down in a ball of flames! Figures!

It was a really special night. I am so happy to see Candace so happy. She deserves it! And I feel so blessed to have been able to be there and share in her happiness!

It was late, so Jer, Mom and I went back to our hotel and crashed!

The next morning, Jer & I slept in, had a free breakfast at the hotel restaurant, and then headed back to Moroni. We decided to go down Provo Canyon...and it was beautiful. Although, no waterfall yet. Snow had just started to melt this weekend!

We got back to Granny's around 1:00 PM...and the kids were very happy to see us!

Uncles Tommy & Rick came down for the day and we all just hung out and ate! I even got another nap! Before it got dark, we took a nice Sunday drive to Manti. I wanted the kids to see this beautiful temple. It is definitely one of my favorites.

We walked all around it and the kids decided to roll down this HUGE grassy hill-

They were a little dizzy, and their stomachs were a little upset...but it was so worth it! And we did get asked by the little security to not roll down the hill again...

We weren't really dressed for family pics, but we had to take some anyways-

We got a great night's sleep at Granny's and then got up early on Monday and started back home. We really didn't want to leave. We drove straight through again. These kids are such Road Trip Warriors-

We made one last stop in St. George, so that I could get some fry sauce....my favorite thing Utah has to offer!

It was a quick, yet absolutely wonderful trip! The kids got some extra special Granny time, and Jeremy and I got to see another miracle happen with our Bauer kids. This was a truly a memorable weekend!

Mommy Getaway Weekend 2013

April 10-15, 2013

Here we go again! After our fun adventure last year, we decided to make this an annual thing. Jenn moved to the Bay Area last Summer, so we decided to head there. We all flew in to Oakland, Wednesday afternoon and reunited! We stayed with Jenn Wednesday night, and after dropping her kids off at school on Thursday, we headed off to San Francisco for some fun!

Our first stop - The Oakland Temple! It was such a beautiful day. I am so glad we stopped here! Not only because we got to see the temple grounds, but also, because we stopped in the clothing center and got some new garments. At the time, I hadn't realized that I forgot to pack mine. So, I am really glad we stopped and that I had purchased some new ones.

We spent the next 2 days and nights at the coolest hotel in downtown-

It was in a perfect location. We were in walking distance of (most) everything we wanted to do and see. After checking into the hotel, we headed into Chinatown. We walked all the way through! It is such a cool place.

We weren't ready to end our walking adventure just yet, so we decided to walk our way up to the Coit tower. Whew! That was quite the hike! We stopped half way up for a pic. A nice man saw us and offered to take this one-

We made it! We decided not to take the elevator up to the top of the tower, but enjoyed the view from the park that surrounds it. Then, we hiked back down and headed to the hotel to freshen up and get some food!

The Hotel Triton (our hotel), had the coolest rooms and lobby. We loved hanging out drinking the lemon water and sitting on the funky chairs.

We ended that first night with a walk down to Union Square. We found this great restaurant - "Daily Grill". Shauna and I split a yummy chicken pot pie.

Day 2 - San Francisco

We slowly got up and ready and grabbed a cab down to Fishermans Wharf. We had booked a tour to Alcatraz at 11:00 AM. I have been to San Fran many times, but never gone to Alcatraz. I was so glad to finally be able to see it! And it was a beautiful day for it!

We got off the boat and headed up to the prison and went on the self-guided walking tour.

It was so interesting and kind of freaky. The tour is narrated by actual guards and prisoners. Here's Tash checking out solitary confinement. None of us were brave enough to have the doors closed on us.

We loved our tour and checking out the island. But we were HUNGRY! We didn't eat breakfast. So, we headed on over to Boudin and had our selves some sourdough.

After lunch, we headed up to Ghirardelli and had ourselves some yummy chocolate. The others got some yummy ice cream, while I sat and watched them eat it (my tummy doesn't like ice cream anymore....)

We really wanted to ride a cable car back to Union Square. So, we got in line to purchase tickets. A lady came up and asked us if we wanted to buy hers, since she wouldn't be using hers. Tash & I bought them for cheap, then this nice security guard offered Shauna a free one! She pitched in a couple bucks for Jenn to get hers. Then the nice security guard took us to an empty car and took some pics of us! He was so nice. So, when it was time for us to get on our car, the only spots left were on the outside. I was a little freaked out, but once we got going...I loved it!

That night, we headed into Union Square for some shopping! We shut the place down! Then, it was back to the hotel and we watched a chick flick..."Safe Haven", before passing out hard!

Saturday...Goodbye San Fran (Boo Hoo!)

We got up and all packed up and then headed to a cute breakfast place called "Sears" for a yummy breakfast. Then, we hopped back into the mini van and did a few last things before heading back to Jenn's.

We attempted to go through Golden Gate Park, but we were blocked, so we drove up the coast and across Golden Gate bridge to this spot-

We finished the day with a quick trip through Sausalito and then headed home to Jenn's. We had so much fun hanging out with her family. They are the cutest!

Sunday, we went to church with the Malone family and helped Jenn with her Laurel lesson. After church, Jenn made an amazing lunch and then we went on a very pretty hike in the hills by her house in Pleasanton.

We just hung out and played with the family. We had a yummy, fun dinner and then got all packed up to go back to our own homes the next day. It was such a fun trip. I love these women and feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends. Can't wait for next year!

7 years old!

Yep! It happened! My baby turned 7 years old. We started the celebration early, while we were all together on Easter at Gammy's. He got to have some birthday brownies and blow out his 7 candles!

He got a Wii game from the McEwan's- Wreck it Ralph!

And a Disney Gift Card and Wreck it Ralph movie from Gammy & Papa!

Then, Monday morning, April 1st...he had to get up and get ready for school! But Mommy got up extra early and made his Birthday Breakfast - Pancakes, Bacon and strawberries w/ Orange Juice.
