NFC Championship Game

Reverse order again!!!!  Driving me crazy!
Ok, so the 49ers have not had the most awesome season, but somehow they made it to the playoffs and made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game!!  Awesome Jackie and Josh invited us and Vicky & Joe to go to the game with them.
Sunday Jan 30, 2022
We flew back from Utah to Orange County and drove straight to Jackie's house in LA.  We changed and got ready for the game and all hung out for a bit, before heading to the game.  That was not an awesome idea.  We should have left way sooner, because traffic and parking was a mess.  But we were able to park and make it in with a little bit of time to spare.  Got some VIP lounge time in while we watched the Bengals beat the Chiefs in a stunner for the AFC Championship.  Got to see some of my favorite players up close and I even got a smile from Kittle!!!!
We watched Brandy sing the National Anthem and then headed to our seats.
The game was a nail biter!!
There were alot of Rams fans this time.  And Jackie and Josh were repping the home team.  But the Rams pulled out the win in the end.  I wasn't even that bummed.  I couldn't believe we made it this far and was just so stoked to be able to be at this game and with these people.  Such an incredible experience!

We were absolutely exhausted after the game.  From Utah to LA all in one weekend was insane and wonderful all at once!  Trish needs a nap!

Papa Gene

 January 22, 2022
Papa Gene went home to be with his sweetheart.  I know he is very happy.
He was the best!  And he loves my Gramma so much.  I will miss him.
On January 27th, Jeremy and I flew to Utah for his funeral.
(pics in the wrong order!!!)
We flew into Provo and Trini picked us up from the airport.  Then we met Henrique and Phoebe at the yummiest brazilian restaurant for lunch.
Henrique dropped us off at our hotel and I took a long nap.  We walked to Burger Supreme for dinner and just chilled for the rest of the night.
On Saturday, the 28th, Chloe picked us up and we rode up to Logan with her and Carter and Kaitlyn.  The funeral was way low key.  Papa was cremated and everyone just took turns telling stories about him.  We drove out to the cemetery and Uncle Brent said the dedicatory prayer.  David spread the ashes all over the snow over Gramma.  That part was weird. But it was a beautiful, freezing winter day and I was so happy to be with all my family.
The funeral food at the wake did not disappoint!  And then we left pretty quick because Chloe needed to get back.
Jeremy and I had no car and we were bored.  We were staying near some car dealerships, so we went and test drove some jeeps and a bronco.  I decided that I like driving the jeep more!  So I think I want to get one now!
We heard there was a fundraiser for the BYU surf team that night.  So we walked the long 5 blocks to get there.  It was a huge college party and I felt totally out of place, but Jeremy jumped right in and even threw Tyler Rohner around in the mosh pit.  We left pretty quickly and got some Dutch Bros. Hot Chocolate on the way back to the hotel.
That was the end of our quick Utah trip.  We were up early Sunday morning and took the only uber in Provo on Sundays to the airport.

Only there for 2 days, but squeezed so much love and fun into it.  So sad that I don't get to see Papa Gene on my visits anymore.  But so glad he is home with his sweetheart!

NYC Birthday!!

 Tuesday, January 18th
We grabbed Hannah and got ourselves to the airport early.  These girls were so excited!
We took the red eye on JetBlue...
And arrived at JFK early.  Around 5:30 AM.
We took the craziest cab ride to MidTown and arrived at the Park Central Hotel around 6:15.  We were so tired and I went up to the desk to ask if we could leave our bags until it was time to check in.  They were so kind and let us check in right then!!  HALLELUJAH!!  I almost cried, I was so happy.  We went up to our room and took a nice 4 hour nap!
Our view.  I love this hotel.
We got up and freshened up and had ourselves a delicious meal at the Times Square Diner.

Then we headed over to Times Square and were tourists!

We went back to the hotel to put our bags down and have a little rest.  Then I took these girls on a carriage ride through Central Park!

We had the best time and the best guide.
We did some walking on the Upper West Side of the park, before heading back to the hotel.

We grabbed some food from the corner deli and then got on our fancy clothes and headed to the theater!

This theater is so intimate and so beautiful!  The girls got some merch and we had wonderful seats.

The show was amazing!  The original cast was absolutely mind blowing.  We loved every second!
We ran around Times Square a little more before heading back for the night.  What a great first day!
On Thursday, we got to sleep in a little.
Then we got all bundled up and jumped on the Subway to meet my friend Janet for lunch.
Well, we had quite the adventure and hopped on the wrong train and ended up in Brooklyn!
They were such good sports and we did eventually make it to Eataly, (one hour late!) and had a lovely lunch with Janet.  She is the best!  I am so glad we made this happen.
After our delicious meal, we said goodbye to Janet and took a walk over to the 9/11 Memorial and down to Battery Park to see Lady Liberty, just as the sun was setting.

Hannah tried to feed the squirrels in the park-

And they went down a really fun slide...
We jumped back on the Subway, the right one this time, and rode it to Rockefeller Plaza-
We walked down 5th Avenue and peaked into St. Patricks Cathedral and passed the Plaza Inn.  We grabbed dinner at the deli again and then took a cab to Harlem to see-
We got upgraded to front row seats and the show was awesome!  The girls loved it!
Friday, January 21st - time to go home :-(
We got up and packed up all of our stuff.  Checked out and stored our bags in the lobby.  We walked 10 blocks to a sushi place that Janet had told us about, only to get there and it was closed!  We were frozen.  I actually had ice on my eye lashes and eye brows!!!
We really wanted good NYC sushi, so I found another place that ended up being 2 blocks from our hotel.  It was a tiny 2nd floor place with only 2 tables, but it was the most delicious sushi we had ever had!  Worth it!  Cali was able to have a wonderful birthday celebration and we made Hannah's first trip to NYC memorable!
I splurged and got the hotel's car service to take us to the airport and we made our flight home.  The plane was pretty much empty and I had a whole row to myself!  Great way to end a really great trip!
