Bottle Rock 2014

For our 18th Wedding Anniversary we decided to head up to Napa Valley for a 3 Day Music Festival!  I heard about Bottle Rock last year, and it sounded fun.  So when they announced the line-up in March ,we decided to do it!  Last Thursday, after getting the kids off to school, we headed up the 101 to our hotel in Corte Madera, CA.

 The drive up was great!  We loved stopping off in new places and finding yummy places to eat.  We had the yummiest lunch in Calabasas at the Blue Table.

 We headed off the 101 and onto the 1 in Santa Cruz.  We had a sunset dinner at The Crow's Nest.

 We made it to the hotel around 10 PM.  The little town we were staying in was just past Sausalito/Tiburon ad right off the freeway.  It was a great home base for the weekend!

Friday 5/30 - Day 1

We slept in and had breakfast at the hotel.  We left around 1:00 and headed to Napa.  Parking went smoothly and the shuttle ride to the venue was quick.  We headed in the gates and walked around to check it all out.  Here's a fun photo booth they had-

 The first show we wanted to see was Matisyahu.  So, we spread our blanket out on the field and settled in for the show.  And then this guy showed up-

Dell!!!

 Dell lives in Napa and manages a few wineries.  We got to meet his wife and some of their friends.  It was so great to see him after 20 years!

They took off to wine and dine.  Jeremy and I enjoyed Matisyahu's show.  I was so comfy.  I laid on Jeremy's lap and just relaxed while listening to the music.  It was so nice!

  

After Matisyahu, we went to check out the food trucks.  We scored with the Slider Sampler from the Me So Hungry truck-

And the we rocked out with The Cure!

We only stayed at The Cure for a few songs, because Jeremy wanted to get nice and close to see Sublime with Rome.  He was so happy!  And it was so smoky-

We hopped right onto our shuttle bus and got in and out of the parking lot so quick!  It was such a great day, but we were beat!  We made it back to out hotel around midnight and crashed out hard on the softest bed ever!

Saturday 5/31 - Day 2

We really wanted to take the Ferry to San Fran, but we slept in too late.  So, we decided to drive to the coast of San Fran and find somewhere to eat and go for a walk.  It was so cool and foggy as we headed into the city-

We urbanspooned the Jave Beach Cafe just off the Great Highway across from Ocean Beach.  The sandwiches were amazing!  The Tsuami and The Bonfire-

After our yummy meal, we walked across the street to the beach.  Jeremy met a local surfer and they discussed conditions.  He loves sand dunes...

We went for a nice little walk on the dunes and took these cute shots-

It was pretty windy and chilly and getting close to the time we needed to leave and head back to the Bottle Rock.  No matter how many times I cross this bridge, I can't get over how awesome it is...

We arrived for our 2nd day of Bottle Rock around 2:30 and got a nice shady bleacher seat for the Smash Mouth concert.  They put on a really fun show!  It was such a crazy crowded day!  It was hard to navigate around compared to Day 1.

But we still had fun and still ate great!

We made some friends from Sacramento and sat with them for the best show of the day- Weezer!!!

OutKast was the Headliner that night and we sat for the first few sets of their show, but then headed over to the Sprint Stage for Heart!  This interesting gentleman was standing right next to me and offered me candy from his magic basket.  I politely declined....but he let me get a pic with him!

We watched some of Heart and made the decision to leave a little early to beat the crowds.  Apparently everyone else had the same idea.  It was chaos trying to get to the shuttles.  We found out later that they did not have enough shuttles for the amount of people that had showed up on Saturday.  We waited in one line for an hour.  We got fed up because we had barely moved.  We took our chances and headed out the main gate and found out that a new shuttle line was being formed out on the street.  They were calling in reinforcement shuttles.  So, we waited for about another hour on the street.  This line was much better and the CHP dude that was directing traffic was hilarious and kept us entertained.  But it was chilly out there and my head was cold.  So, I caved and put on the hat-

We didn't get back to our hotel until 1:00 AM.  Once again, we were exhausted and I went to dreamland on the soft comfy mattress.

Sunday 6/1 - Day 3

We were slow getting up on Sunday.  But that was just fine.  We wanted a real breakfast this morning, so we headed into the beautiful town of Tiburon.  I fell in love with this place...

Day 3 of the Bottle Rock was a breeze.  We asked Dell to help us find a closer and more efficient parking place.  He told us where to park downtown.  We only had to walk 3 blocks.  It was much nicer than the parking and shuttling.  Sunday was a much more low-key day.

Dell and his family hung out with us all day at the Main Stage.  We had a great time hanging out with the Davis family and their friends.  We enjoyed Spin Doctors and Bare Naked Ladies...

And I got hooked on this Clear Conscience Juice from Angele-

But the best and last show of our day was this one-

I danced the whole show!  LL did not disappoint!  We called it a day and ended our run of the BottleRock.  We loved every minute!  We would love to come again next year.  It was still early, so we walked into downtown Napa and found a yummy place to have dinner, the Rose Tavern.  Then we headed back to our hotel for our last night.  I really miss that soft bed...

Monday 6/2 - The Trip Home

We got to bed at a decent hour the night before, so  we were up and ready by 9:00 AM to get on the road and head home.  We stopped in Sausalito and got delicious bagels and smoothies.  And we took one last stop to say goodbye to the bridge and the bay...

We took the 101 home and took a slight detour in Santa Clara, so that I could check out the new home of the San Francisco 49ers!!!  Levi's Stadium-

It was the most beautiful day to drive home.  We headed over to the 1 to have lunch in Cambria.  We stayed on the 1 South until SLO.  Look at the scenery!  It was gorgeous!  We had to stop and get a better look just before Cayucos-

We went for a little hike along the cliffs and found this blow hole.  If you look closely, you can see a little rainbow where the spray is-

That was our last detour.  We just drove straight home after this, to get home to our babies!  We missed them lots!  We got home just before 9:00 PM, just in time to tuck them all in.  We had the most amazing Anniversary Weekend.  We loved having this time together, just the 2 of us, having so much fun together.  I love this man so much and am so blessed that I get to be his wife.
