Yesterday was Cali's 1st Day of Summer! For her Promotion Gift, I got us tickets to see the Little Mermaid Live in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Alex really wanted to see that too, so we recruited her and made it a whole day celebration! Another successful and wonderful LA Day of Play!
My A/C is still broken in the van, so Alex drove us up in her Prius. Yay!
First Stop-
Porto's! (of course!)
We feasted on cuban sandwiches, plantains, potato balls, and Cali got a yummy salad. For dessert, I got a cocnut macaroon, Cali got the triple chocolate mousse, Mia got oreo cheesecake and Alex got a fruit tart. Everything was delicious and our tummies were happy!
Once we were fueled with food, we headed up to the Griffith Park Observatory. We tried to get a Hollywood Sign pic...
And I wanted a cute jump pic...but-
It was 100 degrees outside, so we headed in to play with some of the exhibits...
How much they weigh on the moon-
We drove down the hill, through Hollywood, down the streets of Hancock Park to see pretty houses and ended up at Whimsic Alley. We all had fun playing with the props. And I got to use the cool bathroom.
On this trip to Whimsic Alley, we discovered Grab bags! For $20 you get a bag of stuff. You don't get to see what's in it, but the sign said it was over $75 worth of merchandise. Alex and Cali both purchased one and were so stoked with all of the fun things they got!
We had a little bit of time to kill before dinner, so we headed to LACMA to play with the lamps and the noodles...
These girls had never seen the Tar Pits-not even Alex! So we went down to check them out-
Then we headed to Mel's Drive In for some grub before the show-
We had a "fourmeparty" and got appetizers and shakes. It was delish! And fun! The girls were so excited to play Grease songs on the juke box.
After our dinner, we tried to race to the Hollywood Bowl for the concert. Except, traffic was stopped. We were a little stressed that we would be late. But, we got a great parking spot, and made it to our seats just as the show was starting.
Our View...
This show was amazing! It was more than we expected it to be. The LA Symphony Orchestra played all of the songs/score live. They had screens playing the movie. And then they had the songs performed by artists live! And even performed songs from the Broadway Musical!
Sarah Barielles sang all of the Ariel songs...
And there were fireworks-
Titus Burgess sang the Sebastian songs (i love him...)-
My phone died, but Alex got lots more pics and video. When I get them, I'll post them on here. Rebel Wilson as Ursula and John Stamos as the Chef Louie were also highlight musical numbers. And then at the end, for an encore, Judy Benson, the original voice actress for Ariel came out and sang "Part of Your World"! I cried. It was beautiful. Oh! And there was a firework extravaganza during the closing credits too!
The whole day turned out perfect and was magical! We all had so much fun! The drive home was a little long, but we made it home safe and sound. We also made some of the best memories! This was a great way to kick off the Summer! Can't wait for more!
